If you're doing a home theater system, get a home theater system. Not a computer system. Comp. speakers have an optimal range of about 4 feet. This might be a n00b question, but I don't care. I have an Altec Landsing surround sound hooked up to my PC. I would like to hook it up to my tv- but it only has the single coaxial jack that plugs into the back of the PC similar to headphones. Is there an A/V adapter that with interface with my tv??

Yes, there is an adapter (try Radio shack?) that will convert a 1/8" jack to RCA. Your sound will certainly be nothing stellar, though.

As for systems, my TV is still old school (projection, don't-even-try-to-steal-me big screen), but I have a Denon receiver and DVD player and Paradigm speakers that rock. Best "bang for your buck" in speakers that I've ever come across.
