Your boy Paul is a believer in Pruitt...

There is no link. Consider it bull**** if you want just like I consider your post bull****. Anyone with a brain has to realize that if he builds this thing to a consistent contender it will be about the same time Saban will likely be stepping down. He’s Bama to the core.

If he's "Bama to the core" why did he come here? Seems to me it will hurt his chances. And, how often do head coaches transfer within their division?

OK, I should have said "Conference"

Not to mention, I can't recall as single coach that replaced a legend that fared well (Miles doesn't count because Saban hadn't reached legendary status yet at LSU). If CJP is a roaring success here - he risks his future by following Saban and failing.

Best to absorb the windfall of riches that would normally flock to Saban at TN while he is making his own legend.

I don't disagree with Finebaum's assessment that Coach Pruitt has a tough job ahead, but I still don't think that Jones left the program in worse shape than Derek Dooley did. It's an arguable point, I know, especially considering that last season was the worst record in program history. But it just seems like the talent isn't as depleted as the immediate post-Dooley years. Derek really did a number on us -- especially when he failed to sign a single offensive lineman that one year. It still seems like our O-Line is trying to recover from that debacle.

Jones was a horrible in-game coach, unable to develop talent, and a joke in his strategic communications. But he did bring in some very, very good talent at some key positions. It'll be interesting to see how the remaining talent does under the guidance of an actual football coach and a real staff.

The only difference I have with what you've quoted from Finebaum's comments: "difficult" is in the eye of the beholder and I doubt Pruitt sees anything as difficult, he just has a laser focus and a plan and he is carrying it out step by step and day by day. Do you think he's going to get depressed or let up on the gas if we don't have a better than 0.500 year this year?

Hell no. This guy knows nothing but how to win. He’s seen “what it looks like” to win championships. He knows what type of players, what types of schemes, what type of system if takes to win a the highest SEC and collegiate levels. I do believe 2018 is gonna be a difficult year, but I think he’ll move on into 2019 undeterred and determined to do much better then. This guy’s a ball coach, and a winning one at that. I think he’ll be relentless in trying to get us a championship level. We’re on the same page.

I'm surprised that anyone cares about what that Saban ****-sucking traitor has to say.

Pruitt is honest. That’s enough to make Finebaum happy, compared to having to cover UT with a coach that didn’t know how to look someone in the eyes and tell the truth. Butch and Finebaum never got along which was pretty clear, but Finebaum called him out nationally on the set of sec nation once upon a time and butch looked to Tebow for support and avoided Finebaum’s question. He said something to the extent of Tim will understand because he’s played football before, but Tebow was having none of it. I would have loved to hear that post camera conversation if there even was one.

I agree with all this.

He still has to do it as head coach, and early on he'll have to do it with a little different roster than he's accustomed to.

Some patience certainly warranted.

Agreed. He’s a winner the only drawback with him is his lack of head coaching experience. There will be some growing pains but ultimately he will get it done at Tennessee.

Well said, we are indeed on the same page. He's no doubt already separated (mentally at least) the wheat from the chaff on our current roster and moved a few players to "new" positions better suited to their talents and physical attributes. And knows what he wants and needs in the next recruiting class. It will be fun to watch it all unfold (though 2018 might not be that pretty) and then come together in another year or two.

Freak,

Please place a qualified member from our loved posters as our Volnation Weather Guru. Because, I for one, had no clue there was a storm present.

Thanks!

Comments on ESPN calculated to generate viewership. The TN fanbase has never been closer to just walking away. That's lots of eyeballs and considerable amount of revenue. Anyone who covers the Vols is facing the same situation that the university itself is. Don't let attendance at a free scrimmage skew the facts. Rage has morphed to apathy among the general population of TN fans (not the small, unrepresentative cohort on the Internet.)

True TN Fans aren't going anywhere nor are they walking away. These ones that do will be the next wave or Ala or GA bandwagon fans. Any true fan will stand by and support the Vols. If fans bailed because of bad yrs or tough times Ala fans wouldn't have been around to support Saban, Ohio St would have bailed before Meyer, Clemson fans before Dabo, Mia fans before Richt, Mich fans before Harbough and the list is endless. Yea there will be fans who won't go to as many games until JP gets it turned around but who needs those fans anyway. The ones who claim to be fans but only know what they read about or see in the news could bounce to the next bandwagon team. Rick Barnes has created excitement and has Vol fans packing out games in a very short time. If Neyland is packed for the O&W game it shows the support for JP,Fulmer and Vol football. We've seen fans not show up for the spring game and fans won't come just to pass time. They could watch it on the SEC Network if they didn't wanna show support. I can assure you support is very high as is the excitement level for Vol football fans. The Big time SEC football schools have die hard fans who eat, sleep and breathe football year around. That doesn't just go away. It was here long before any of us bled orange and will be here long after. A very, very small percentage would ever walk away from their college football team they bleed the colors of. That has never happened and it never will at a school like TN.
