Mine has been UGA since Kirby got there. It’s not because of their recent success it’s because of their fans. I currently live in GA and they are the only fan base that has went out of their way to bark or make a comment every time I am out with a Vols hat or shirt on. Doesn’t matter where I am at; grocery store, gas station, Home Depot, lowes, you name the place and these clowns make it a point to bark or engage me with a Vols suck comment.

I despise them, their school and their state…..I hope they all catch AIDS!!!!!

Florida because I've never seen us have sustained success against them. They live rent free in our heads and they know it. We always find a way to loose to them even when we have better talent. Hell Peyton never came close to beating them. We lost to them by a single point 3 years in a row. Had the largest meltown in a second have Ive ever seen. Up 30-14 in the first half and somehow lost 62-37 in 95. I've seen us own Bama in my life. I don't think I'll ever see that with Florida. I hate them with a burning passion. The majority of my favorite TN moments are us beating Florida. There isn't a sweeter feeling in the world.

The "facts" are that UT has a storied history and has been playing several of its rivals for well over a century. You know perfectly well that South Carolina isn't our chief rival and that rivals
doesn't mean "teams with roughly similar recent records."
Ohhhh, we’re going back to, “In 1843 the mighty UT football team and their leather helmets…” whatever man. Yeah, you do have a “storied” history. Good for you. I’m not going to continue this, but I will say this:‘it’s pretty funny that you don’t consider UK a a rival because you beat them 20-something years in a row, and they’re “little brother.” Yet, you still want to put yourselves on the same level as Alabama and Georgia- simply because, “records don’t matter”, and “We’ve been playing them for years!” They’ve been kicking your teeth in for years now! Why is UT-AL any different than UT-UK?

Your error, it seems, is that you don't know the meaning of the word rival in the context of college football. I most emphatically do regard Kentucky (and Vanderbilt) as a traditional rival of UT.

I understand what a rival is. I’m hoping for a good game tonight against you and Kentucky-one of your rivals. ;)

The reality is South Carolina has been our most competitive rivalry the past decade+. I hate Bama the most though.

They attended the 96 Memphis game. Their fans where flat out vicious at the end of that game. I got coke dumped on me walking into the tunnel.

A fair point. The original question, after all, was about "your biggest UT rival." By the way, though my vote stands unshakeable for Bama, I appreciated your post above for why you chose Florida.

I don't see how Bama is the biggest rival. We are irrelevant to them and they were irrelevant to us during the Peyton and Tee eras. UF has always been the biggest rival to me because it's not just the first conference game (usually) but also a win in that game gives a good start to conference play and possibly a lead. And on a personal note, my birthday (Sep 18th) usually occurs during this game and it sucks that my alma mater always gives me a birthday loss.

I'm 45 years old and I remember the Peyton and Tee era very differently from that. I question if you even lived through that to spew such blasphemy. We go way back with Alabama and have beaten them more than any other team. Auburn is 1 game behind us in that category and no-one else is anywhere close. If you go read some of their forums I challenge you to find any team they enjoy beating more than us. Honestly I'd be happy if we only beat them and lost every other game on the schedule.

I hate UGA the most. Since really getting into football and becoming a Vol fan back around 2002 when I was 10, haven’t seen too much success vs UA or UF. I live in Nw Ga/ Chattanooga area and the UGA fans have just been so damn annoying my entire life

Kind of embarrassed that Memphis is even on this list. I literally NEVER even think about Memphis. They could be 12-0 and playing for a championship and still they just wouldn’t be on my radar. I guess that sounds derogatory toward them…but I think of them like I do, say, IDK…Boston College?

I chose Alabama cause I hate them in so many ways and for so many freaking reasons. But I hate the gators since living here since 96 and putting up with all their fat mouths that I’d like to cram something down repeatedly

I went with Georgia simply because my loyalties lie with GT and UT. Both schools hate Georgia with a passion so I have double barrel hate for that so called "school"
