The biggest rivalry will ALWAYS be Alabama. This goes back a long, long time. Any time I get around a 'bama fan my skin crawls and the hair on the back of my neck stands up.

vandie commode-doors...because we live in Nashville & wife worked there 35 years! Not worried about them beating the Vols, but their fans are insufferable whiney-butts. We are for TENNESSEE & any who plays vandie.

If I lived close enough to throw rocks into Alabama and Georgia I would run out of rocks in short order. Have family in Ga that are big bulldog fans but still despise Bama more probably because I’m old.

Come to Chattanooga, and bring a bucket of smooth, flat, creek stones. (or a stack of dry meadow muffins)
There's a perfect spot on Lookout Mtn. from which you can heave to your heart's content without wearing out your arm.

Florida, because their fans are even more delusional than ours.

I don't understand how Georgia, South Carolina, Memphis, and "Other" have received any votes at all.

I voted for bama. I'm 46 and that was the biggest game/rivalry of the year when I was growing up.... and still is, IMO.

*I didn't start hating florida bad until Ark and USCjr joined the SEC and the divisions were formed. They are my 2nd most hated team. Everyone else is on the same level of my hatred. I don't wish any of them any success in any sport.

**SEC referees and the SEC office have also garnered a true level of despise and hatred from me over the past several years. Get the SEC office out of Birmingham and clean up the conference.

I don’t think we have one main rival and this thread pretty indicates that. We have several rivals. If you google college biggest rivalries Tennessee isn’t listed. To be a big rivaly IMO the other school has to consider you their main rival also.
To me the main rivalries are
Army-Navy
Auburn-Alabama
Harvard-Yale
Purdue-Indiana
Oklahoma-Texas
North Carolina-Duke
Florida-Florida State

If Vandy had consistently been good then they would have been our natural main rival but they aren’t good so we have a hodgepodge of who we consider our main rival. Heck, if we asked the Lady Vol fans they would tell you South Carolina is the main rival.

For me and watching the vols for over 15 years I’m going to have to say the Wildcats are my biggest rival it seems there’s a lot of trash talk between the two states and if you look at history it’s been pretty competitive And in my opinion as long as we beat Kentucky every year the no matter how the season goes I’m happy! Classic Bama Bandwagon fan that lives elsewhere.
Did you live in Alabama.....NO

Did you attend the university or have a relative that does or did.....NO
Have you ever attended a Alabama sporting event home or away.....NO.
I know many Bama like this.

I don't see how Bama is the biggest rival. We are irrelevant to them and they were irrelevant to us during the Peyton and Tee eras. UF has always been the biggest rival to me because it's not just the first conference game (usually) but also a win in that game gives a good start to conference play and possibly a lead. And on a personal note, my birthday (Sep 18th) usually occurs during this game and it sucks that my alma mater always gives me a birthday loss.

Florida.

I’ve never even met a UF fan I’d consider a good person.

Bama is always going to be our biggest rival no matter what. Here is the reason for that.
1. When they go down, we go up.
2. When we go down, they go up.
3. Both streaks go back and forth, and that is what makes this rivalry a rivalry.
4. The history will never die with streaks.
5. Be patient, because our time is coming again, to put a long winning streak against them, and it’s coming.👍

I chose South Carolina because y’all seem to be on the same level (with UT being a bit better). Make a bowl game and win, and that could be changed to UK.

Man, y’all killed us that game! I remember that it was pretty much over after the first quarter. Lol But to answer your question- no, not bitter at all. Just stating facts.

The "facts" are that UT has a storied history and has been playing several of its rivals for well over a century. You know perfectly well that South Carolina isn't our chief rival and that rivals
doesn't mean "teams with roughly similar recent records."
