Younger people on here will never believe it, but I'm not sure the offense has ever been more prolific than when Fulmer was up in the box calling plays.

Majors successfully stifled it.

I don't think its THAT hard to look like a genius when your toughest decision is to either..
A. Run with Cobb/Webb behind Still, Myslenski, Davis, Fischer, Poles etc...
OR
B. Throw the ball to Pickens, Harper, or Morgan.

Not bad.
DB-I would take Ron Zook or Lovie Smith(people forget the miracle job Lovie did in '93 with no one returning with ANY game experience outside of back up safety Victor Brown).
OC- Chaney- every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

It was basically Walt Harris' offense with more emphasis on power running. Yes, Johnny seemed to find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in the Alabama games. He seemed to get ever more conservative, controlling and predictable as he got older. Too bad as I love the idea of having him on the side-line and he brought a lot of great assistants through Knoxville.

100% truth. Johnny had the eye for quality assistants.

It was. But Phil tended to be a little more multiple and definitely spread things out and threw it more. It also didn't hurt that some of the best skill position players in school history were all of campus in school at the same time.

True, but it isn't like CPF was some kind of offensive innovator. He didn't design any of the offense. He took Walt Harris' offense and modified it a bit, actually simplifying with less plays. Plus, we haven't had RBs or WRs ever as good as Webb, Cobb, Pickens and Harper.
