Position coaches matter tremendously in college football. I’m in the minority on my opinion with Pruitt. But one mistake he has made is his balance in priority with recruiting vs on field with his position coaches.

There has been a drop off without Rocker. There has been a drop off with Neids at LB coach. And we’ve suffered on the field.

With that, what should the staff look like next year? I think with the right changes there is a substantial change. And I think Pruitt can rebound.

1) We need to hire Will Muschamp as LB coach and Co-DC. This would enable Neids to move back to Offense, and would place Muschamp in charge of an absolute wealth of talent when you combine our current LBs and the incoming class. Huge impact move.

2) Let Chris Weinke go. He has been lacking in both recruiting and on the field. Pair the QB of the future with his new coach in year one. It’s the right time to make this move. Salter seems to be sold out for Chaney. Won’t effect him.

3) I’m not a Will Friend fan on the field. Recruiting we have done fine in his tenure, but his units seem to consistently underperform. This one will be tough for Pruitt as their relationship seems to run deep.

I would actually keep Chaney. The guy has been successful for a long time in the sport. I think he’s still got it, but think the limitations that JG has caused won’t be realized until he departs. This may be unpopular but I thought games like Bama last year gave us glimpses. He was calling a gem and would’ve had a TD with the Crouch play had JG not messed up. I like him. So that’ll be my against the grain take.

Will Muschamp????????🤣🤣🤣

Regardless of your opinion of his HC ability he’s a great defensive coach particularly with LBs. He’s an enormous upgrade over Neidermeyer And he and Pruitt are tight. I think it’s likely. It’ll be hard to convince others if they think there’s a chance Pruitt gets fired. Muschamp won’t care about that. He can get a job anywhere on D.

We have VFL's working all over the college football globe. It is time to reel them in, and bring em' home!
Daryl Dickey
Dale Jones
Terry Fair
Tee Martin
Jay Graham
Keep Rocker, Chaney, Friend
Al Wilson (Contingent on him completing his degree).

Will Mushcamp isn't coming here as DC for any amount of money....

Neids needs to go though. He like several others on this staff have no business what so ever coaching college football. Looking at your fat a$$ too Will Friend

Terry Fair has already been fired by Pruitt. Dickey has been fired by pretty much every coach that he’s ever worked for. Just because someone played here doesn’t mean they should be on staff.

Dickey was QB coach for Bobby Bowden from 01-07. Fair was fired by the guy were are about to fire. Dale Jones is D Coordinator at App State. App State's defense is always stout.
I'd like some folks who have been successful, but, more than that, Love The University of Tennessee, and know how much it means, to regular folks, to be a consistent winner.

I think Chaney gets too much blame. He has his hands tied with JG and the passing offense.

Weinke has to go or change roles. We need to bring in a trusted QB developer. Hell, if we could bring in a for sure thing I would totally be fine paying that person as much as an OC.

I would like to see Friend go but I'm okay if he stays one more year.

Yes Dickey was QB coach at FSU, until he was fired to make room for Jimbo Fisher. How about we ignore the whole VFL nonsense, and just try and find good coaches, regardless of where they’re from.

And here I am hoping none of our current coaches will be back. I’m also hopeful our idiot ad will beat everyone out the damn door

I agree that Weinke need to go, but the problem is that it’s going to be hard finding quality replacements. How many guys are going to want to come here knowing that Pruitt is squarely on the hot seat? That’s why if Weinke is let go, Chip Long or Joe Osovet will most likely be the QB coach.

What asst is going to come here and hang their hat in Beldars closet knowing he’s on the hot seat next year? Certainly not anyone in a current decent job.

Dale Jones should be on this defensive staff.
He would be a better DC than what we currently have.......

I'm good with everything except Muschamp and that's just because I can't see him going anywhere for anything less than a DC spot.

I say move Nieds back to Offense for WR, drop Weinke and move Tee to QB, keep Cheney and Osovet at TE with Graham on RB. Fire Friend if an attractive NFL caliber guy comes available...otherwise we could stick with him.

On Defense, Ainsley is doing a decent job as the paper tiger. Get Dale Jones from Ap St as LB, DB, or something...just get him. We need to find a fire breathing beast for DL to put some fear back in our boys.

Now, in my opine, THE biggest move Pruitt needs to make is call up Fitz and give him a set of golden keys with a blank check to get back to Knoxville as S&C
