young vs. kimbro

Kimbrow is a shade faster in straight forward speed. DY is more gifted as a football player. He has really good speed in pads and much more in the way of body control, shiftiness, and changing speeds. He has good intelligence and maturity; whereas Kimbrow not so much.

DY's presence obviously is a reason that he did not want to come to UT, along with his over-inflated ego. Add in Arnett and Dallas as slot/wide-out/returner candidates among others. No room at the inn left for egomaniacs. He would have to work hard and earn his way to a spot compared to the easy path he will have at Vandy.

I'll take Young because his heart bleeds orange.....let the other kid have four years of playing for nothing but beat downs on Saturdays....at least he'll get a good education though.

From a character perspective.. a good kid from Knoxville who's always wanted to be a Vol>>>>a cocky kid from memphis who
talks like he's in a gang already

From a talent perspective.. BK>>DY

I think we've seen that this coaching staff is more apt to take kids with slightly less talent but who are better people and are willing to be coached up rather than taking kids who act and talk like thugs who may not make it through year one. And personally I think that'll pay off in the long run. So I applaud dooley and co and ill be glad to take more DYs and less BKs

Jesus Christ it's not his fault you people can't detect sarcasm . That name calling kinda backfired maybe?

I wasn't calling him idiot, I was just saying that's how easy it is to get the rumors going on here.

How ironic is it that Vandy looks to be thugging it up on their roster when their fans have said that is all we can recruit to U.T. for along time....kind of funny actually.

Kimbrow said the reason he didn't pick Tennessee was UT fans didn't like him. Does anybody no what the hell he is talking about?

I and people far smarter than me have mentioned recruits read this board and GoVolsXtra. Some stuff said on here has effect on these kids. I don't even think many of you realize you do more to steer recruits from the UT than any rival recruiters.

This really sucks losing this kid to Vandy. I guess we'll only beat them by an average score of 24 points for the next 4 years (sigh).

Vandy has not ever been, and will never be, a major consistent threat on the recruiting front to Tennessee. They have not been a threat in the SEC since, I don't know, the 20's? The dude has talent and heck, if he wants to play at Vanderbilt, go for it! He'll have all the playing time he wants there, and he will make some plays for em'. BTW, somebody posting that he ran a 4.24......that just means it's gonna hurt even more when he runs into A.J. Johnson. It's gonna hurt going from 4.24 to flat on your back.

Oh yeah, why can't we just let Vanderbilt enjoy themselves before the next regular season brings them back down to reality? Let em' live boys. Let em' live.

Here, I wrote them a poem:
Recruiting season,
we're fine and dandy.
We got Kimbro,
sweet as candy.
This dude might just
come in handy.
Regular season,
oops, still Vandy.

I hope Kimbro likes eating dirt, he won't be able to get anywhere running behind their offensive line in the SEC unless he is a Barry Sanders reincarnate.

Really this doesn't seem like a big deal, would hurt if he went to UGA or South Carolina where he could be dangerous.

Well said
I am baffled why so many on here trash recruits. I would've loved to have had BK but now wish him well and hope he has at least 4 less than desirable games while at vandy

I think you should be a little more dramatic about it...

I don't know why anyone is concerned with Kimbro, we will still be better at every position than Vandy for the foreseeable future

To be fair, I don't think Kimbrow would have ever been used as a running back either. Despite his speed, he's just too dang small. A linebacker would break his neck.
Chris Johnson isn't that big either...not even 200lbs, and the Titans have been running him like an every down RB. Teams and Scouts overlooked CJ for the very reasons you stated. The Titans didn't and that's why they have not only the best RB in the league right now, but they have thus far only paid him peanuts compared to other elite backs.

Kimbro has the potential to be that type of RB, and he made a bonehead decision committing to Candy. Must have been their shoe closet stadium. Guess he likes him some shoes. :)

Someone clearly didn't watch their tape close enough...
+1

I think we are in for a real treat and the SEC opponents are in for a lot more strings of RockyTop ringing in their ears, with this kid onboard. I don't know that I've ever seen tape so impressive, yet go so unnoticed by the "experts."
