Young Up and Comer Syndrome

On the Sunseri fiasco:

"If Dooley says he's the guy, that's good enough for me."

On the Clawson fiasco:

"If Fulmer says he's the guy, that's good enough for me."

I have to admit that I was hopeful with Sunseri, if not excited. I don't think Dooley had earned the benefit of the doubt as much as Butch has now, so I didn't feel as confident in his choice as I do with Butch's.

Never was excited about Clawson. By that time I was pretty convinced that Fulmer had gotten too comfortable in the job and that the program was stagnant.

The Debord hire doesn't thrill me, but the trajectory of UT football today makes me a bit more willing to trust the head coach.

My question is why in the hell would CBJ hire a guy who he thinks won't do a good job coaching and recruiting? It's obvious he would not, so why second guess the guy who has forgotten more about coaching than all of us put together "think" we know?

This practice happens all the time in the corporate world and politics. It can happen here too. Butch thinks his offensive system works, so far it hasn't.
We aren't second guessing this hire bc we think we know more about football than Butch, it's bc there are coaches out there that do know more about football than Butch, and they haven't tried to hire DeBord in a long time.

Debord's NFL experience and national championship experience winning experience will gain creditability to the young men on our roster and the men know he has impressed his HC. Offensive line /TE improvement will improve dramatically especially with Richmond and existing depth. :good!:
