That is just 4 and 5 star players Freshman and Sophmores...so that doesn't even include underrated guys like Hughes, King, ect.

QB-1
RB- 3
WR- 5
OL-4
DL-3
LB-1
DB-5
For a total of 22 players.

That is a pretty good spread if you ask me...maybe a few more LB's, DL's, and OL's would be nice but that is a very solid foundation for the future.

We add two top 5 classes on top of that and I don't think we will have much of a talent issue in 2012!:good!::hi::rock:

Now you have to keep it in perspective and realize we have about 6 or so total upperclassmen that would fall into this catagory which is why this year could be real tough.

But Kiffin's staff and Dooley's haul this past year have set us up where we are still on schedule to be back sooner rather than later!

Good post, we are still up and coming. We just need to get great Olines and Dlines and a QB then we will be on our way back to the top. :)

Dooley will do a good job. Fulmer didnt do a good job with the last 2 or 3 classes he got. Florida,Bama,LSU, keep top classes and it takes awhile to catch back up with them. Saban has red shirt freshman that could play somewhere else but cant get on the field at Alabama, so we have to catch up with that. Tennessee last two classes was good we just have to keep it up. And with the coaches we got not i think they will stay here. So we can compete with Gators,Tide and the rest for players.

Not to be a downer but go take a look at Floridas freshman and sophomore class. Take a look at how many 5 star players that they have. Then the list of 4 stars is never ending...

awesome work man! I feel pretty good about that list. only negative is there is only 1 defensive tackle on there. loads of skill position talent tho which should be very appealing for 2011 QB prospects.

Well they have won two of the last 4 national championships while we have been fighting to be bowl eligable...so I would think there would be a slight discrepency...

Just looking at Florida's signing classes they have 34 4 and 5 stars the past 2 classes...I am not sure if any of those have been dismissed from the team or what not, but they are obviously ahead of us, but not by a huge margin.

The UF's, Bama's and LSU's of the world are going to get great players regardless of what we do...I don't know if there will ever be a point where we "out talent" any of those teams...

I say this only because I see so many people on here freak out when those teams land a highly rated recruiting class...

What did we expect...that they would just stop recruiting and let us catch up?

What we need is to narrow that gap from the substantial one that it is now to one that is managable (i.e. where we're not trying to block an 350lb All-American DT with a 260lb former walk-on as we're trying to kick a game winning field goal)..

I think we're on the right track and with two more top 5-10 classes we should be there (especially if we reach those rankings by loading up on highly rated OL/DL's)

Then the question will be...whose coaches are better?

Eric: Thanks for taking the time to compile and post this list...we'll be back in the Top 10 pretty soon contending for the SEC East, SEC Championships, and National Championships...it will just take a little time...we have to be patient...GBO!

I think starting this year and here on out our recruiting classes will be pretty good. While Bama, FL, and LSU all have in state talent to turn to and load up on we dont. But b/c of Dooley and GA as our backyard we are going to load up on GA talent which is just as equivalent to FL loading up on their talent and LSU loading up on their talent. Fulmer's winning yr's were when we were bringing in GA talent every year. His decline was when he stopped going there as much. With Dooley already stating he is going to turn to GA first and with his name and LT and CS being our recruiters for that state we should really load up on the state of GA talent and that will pay dividends.

We get 2 Ol guys to walk on or tranfer from a Juco and 2 DL to tranfer from a Juco and we're set. This summer may lead way to something nice.

If UT consistently gets top 10 classes then they will have enough talent if well coached to compete at the top of the SEC and win SEC championships. If they consistently do that then they'll be in the NC conversation as well.

The last two classes were good and the 08 class was underrated- small but underrated IMO primarily because Poole and Hughes are better than 2/3* players. You might could throw Lathers and Bohannon in there too considering both got alot of PT as RS Freshmen.

The 07 class had some good players but collectively it has to be considered a bust.

The big problem is that none of those 4 classes met the OL or DT needs.

No doubt that florida is still quite a ways ahead of us, but still, don't over estimate what i refer to as "star power". The distiction between 4 and 5 star players really isn't that big of a gap. As long as the coaching is up to par and the player is willing, those 4 stars can be every bit as good as the 5 stars after a year of college coaching and conditioning. I firmly believe that if you have the right coaching, you can take four classes comprised ten 4 stars and fifteen 3 stars each and turn it into a championship team. But we're still a ways away ofcourse.

that's the thing about college football. in the nfl bad draft picks can haunt teams for a long time (see J Russell + Oakland) but the poor recruiting classes of '06-'08 won't matter by 2011 ( i know '07 was good at the time but only 1/2 of them are left

I think classes like our past two will take us back to the top quickly. Athletically we are catching up in a hurry. Guys like Rogers, Hunter, Meline, and Milton paired with Teague, Oku, Williams, and Brown can rival anybody in the league's young talent. I actually like our skill players more than anybody else's in the league. I know they're not proven but our RBs, WRs, and TEs are very talented. I also think our OL will be better than last years. They'll be more athletic and I think we'll be more physical up front. James and Stone will start and I think they'll be great at LG and RT. Stephens is the key and I think personally that the coaching change may have been best for him. I expect us to be better this year due to a lack of pressure on the players. We'll sneak up on more teams.

If James can step up and be a good SEC lineman by the fall it will greatly help our team.

Stone isn't going to be ready IMO, but I think we have 3 other good lineman on the roster other than Douglas so we could have a good line if JJ steps up.

Thing is Stone plays guard which is an easier spot to play as a freshman. I also like Schoefield and Revis. We'll be alright.

IMO Dooley is going to do a much better job at doing more with less. I still think Meyer is overrated as a coach. Take away Tebow and he loses at least a couple games last year, despite the ridiculous amount of talent he had on the field. We'll see how well he does in the post Tebow era.

However, what Saban is doing at Bama is just scary.
