That the last staff was still in place for as little as Wood-Anderson was targeted. Dudes a stud and the one time targeted he catches a touchdown.

I feel if we loosen the reigns on Garantano, results would have been different. I feel the staff was limiting him. Also, I never felt any urgency when WV scored the first 2 TDs in the second half. Need to be better at situational football.

This loss wasn't on the offense. Outside of those first 2 drives they played good enough to win. The D just kept getting gashed for huge play after huge play. Either WVU is as good as advertised or our Defense, especially secondary, sucks terribly. I think the answer is somewhere in between. That offense was a terrible matchup for us no doubt. They made some really good playcalls and out secondary looked terrible. Our run D I think is fine. We mostly got gashed when we're were in dime and nickle packages playing the pass. On traditional run downs and formations we were pretty stout until game was pretty much over in the 4th

Need to play more complementary football.

The D was disappointing. I figured after 10 years, we finally had a coach that taught turning around for the football. Maybe WV is that good. Maybe I was expecting too much from freshman. Truly, the real issue is the pass rush. We have got to get dlineman in here who can rush the passer.

I think it was only 60% about how good WVU is. Grier was dropping dimes, but our corners and safeties both were not playing the ball at any time that I saw (except the one time Flowers swatted it down) and were constantly blowing coverage.

Also, we almost never put pressure on Grier. The front 7 was vastly underwhelming for what I was expecting going into today. They did a half-decent job stopping the run, but almost never got pressure

There was an article not that long ago that I posted in regards to Wood-Anderson. But this is what Pruitt said in regards to TE's in general under his regime.

“We’re trying to figure out do we have any tight ends, I’m talking about tight ends that can block, not line up there [and] run pass patterns,” Pruitt said during his press conference Thursday. “If we’re gonna run pass patterns, I’d rather put wide receivers out there.”
Offense change has Tennessee emphasizing tight end recruiting

They'll have their moments, but I don't think we're seeing more plays to him because of this reason.

I will add that he emphasizes blocking for our TE's because we're playing more of a pro-style run heavy offense. Which requires TE's that can block. Not for the route running skills.

After the first two drives, the problem was mostly on defense...We allowed them to score TDs on three straight drives in the 2nd half. I believe Our only stop that half was a fumble, in which WV drove all the way down the field...DBs got a huge wakeup call. Plenty of youth there, but that was a good tasting of humble pie today

Our offense isn’t the reason we lost, but you aren’t going to win many games only scoring 14 points. They need to shoulder some of the blame for this one

we got a sampling of the coaching staff and player personnel...first time, mind you, so I'll reserve any comments except...as always and forever...

We had a 3rd and 5, JG was hot and we could of tied it up or taken the lead ...and we run the ball for no gain. I think that and the combo of WVU scoring before half hurt. Their QB threw a couple just impossible to defend passes but for the most part our guys were getting beat. But it starts upfront. Our Dline just is not and SEC Dline in the slightest. No pressure whatsoever.

We were warned about this. Their QB is the third rated passer in the nation, WRs rated # 1 and their o-line rated in the top 15. Did we really think that our secondary (with three true freshmen) were going to shut them down? Their strengths ran right into our weakness.

Three weeks from now, we need to look for improvement. That will show if we are really headed in a direction or spinning our wheels.

Absolutely it is! A great pass rush makes a poor secondary look great. A poor pass rush can make a great secondary look pretty bad. I do not think that that is just a cliche either!

What? We scored 14 points. If that's a good offense I don't want to see a bad one.

On the TD pass over Warrior, though it was a perfectly thrown pass, Pruitt was literally yelling to Warrior from the sideline what was coming... still got beat 👎🏻 We will improve
