Then go after Craig Bohl. He built a dynasty at his last stop in North Dakota. He has Wyoming.... (I know, I know, it's Wyoming) playing pretty good football. Trust me, I lived in Laramie for about 3 years after I moved from Tennessee and the fact that anybody can have Wyoming playing decent football is a miracle in itself. With the talent on UT's roster I think this man could be extremely successful immediately. Check out this article from USA TODAY.

Craig Bohl building Wyoming in same way he won titles at North Dakota State

Some notable quotes from the article:

LARAMIE, Wyo. – Once the owners of several different uniform combinations, as has become the standard in college football, the Wyoming football program led by Craig Bohl now has just two: home and away. Upon his arrival four years ago this December, Bohl suggested the remaining uniforms be thrown in a bonfire, since they were no longer needed. The university demurred. Turns out the jerseys were state property, and as such couldn’t be just burned to ashes on a whim.
He made a discovery. “The guy who cares about uniforms isn’t for us,” Bohl told USA TODAY Sports. “If you’re going to be successful here, we’re looking for a specific guy.

"Now, we’ve got to be smart with what we ask them to do,” said Bohl. “But the guy that’s running out there on the West Coast that’s a five-star guy that’s been shopping around and thinks it’s all warm and fuzzy, when the rubber meets the road they’re going to spit the bit out. We’re going to have our hand in the dirt and knock the s--- out of you.”

Sounds like the kind of coach Tennessee needs right now. No nonsense, no gimmicks, just man up and pound the rock down your throat and if you don't like it, tough sh*t we're gonna do it anyway.

He's a proven winner. 104-32 record at NDSU winning 3 FCS national championships in a row before leaving for Wyoming.

Flame away Volnation. I know this isn't the sexy hire that everyone expects but the man can coach.

Not sure he's the next up and comer but I give you a like for the info. It would take him a couple years to get up to speed in the SEC. I'd hate to see what the VN piranhas would do to him in that time.

Only concern is that he hasnt set world on fire while having a Top 10 pick at QB while at Wyoming..

Better than Schiano though

I agree. The loss of Brian Hill the the NFL this year kind of hampered their running game. Allen hasn't had the year they had hoped for at QB this year.

You know after today, barring bringing in someone in with a checkered past, a hire like Craig Boh would be a best case scenario.

There are 9.4 million reasons our weak ass admin won't go after him.

Don't got to have a weak ass to not want to chuck away 9.4 mil. I guess it's all chump change to you.

There are others out there--Venables--a lot less than 9.4 plus salary for him, Pruitt--a matter of time, Kiffin--might pay us to come back, Petrino, Mullen (maybe still), Sumlin, Norvell, etc.

I could support this, and while we're going to have to overpay for a coach, at least we'd still be able to easily afford him. Double his $1.4M current salary.
