I like it. I find myself explaining significant aspects of UT Football to my fiancé, when she's busy doing homework or looking at wedding stuff and could care less.

My fiancee is a South Carolina fan and I have had to put up with the garbage she spews about her beloved Gamecocks for the past few years. I keeping telling her when the Vols start beating that ass again, I will unleash the wrath on her. I get married in Hilton Head in September and will be moving to South Carolina shortly. So I will have to put up with all the obnoxious SC fans on a permanent basis.

I don't think SC fans, as a whole, are really all that obnoxious. I live with a few and know a few others. They seem happy, but not particularly smug.

Maybe you're marrying the exception?

She might be. She likes to disregard everything that happened at SC before Lou Holtz got there. Regardless, I love her to death and I think it's super sexy that she is that passionate about college football. My future in laws are complete opposites from her. Unless SC is playing UT, they will cheer for the Vols. I'm pretty pumped that this year I will be making my first trip to Williams-Brice to watch the Vols whoop that ass.

Will never forget when I took my fiancee (then wife now) out to dinner and drew on a napkin why a properly executed play action fake opens up the middle of the field for crossing routes. I'm not kidding, to this day 15 years later, she gets that play and can spot it during a game we're watching with ease.

Good deal, man. My wife is a Vandy girl and loves both college and pro football... maybe more than I do if you count pro ball. It's nice to have a wife who gets it.

You poor creatures, I do pity you. My Shirley has her Vols gear presorted and bagged. She has told me she's driving us to games while I drive back. Why? "Cause I can get to Knoxville faster. You never take advantage of the 9mph cushion cops give drivers before pulling them over."

Hard to believe when we first moved to KY, she wasn't what you'd call a football fan. But one trip to Orangeland and BAM! The Vol Walk, Neyland Stadium, the running through the "T", the sea of orange clad fans, oh yeah, filling up the ice chest and cloth bags at Marketplace-and she's hooked. Good girl my Shirley is.

I did something similar with a salt and pepper shaker but I was explaining to her how indefensible a well executed pick and roll is.

My wife and daughter are both SC fans, so I can relate. I agree with shiek though, most SC fans I encounter are pretty cool and have little hatred towards the Vols.

When we start winning again, the bandwagons in the Memphis Metro Area will switch their allegiances.

Yeah, I believe you. When I lived west, I recall driving 90mph from Nevada on I-15 just before Barstow, CA, cars passed me going at the usual cosmic speed of WROOM. And you periodically saw CHiP cars parked next to a Joshua tree or under a tamarisk tree. Probably A/C going full blast and the officer asleep. But I see no need to drive like that here. Out there you can spot a cop miles away, driving or sitting still. But here too many hiding places. But if Shirley wants a ticket, she pays for it herself.

Did she get it or did she think you were using the pepper as the black player, and salt as the white one as a way to discuss racial differences in basketball?
