We have one horrid year with a horrid offense with a horrid OC and you think Fulmer can't coach anymore? If you think Fulmer can not flat out coach any longer than it just shows how little you have about the game of football.

One lousy season..one, not 2 not 3...just one!

Did it suck..heck yah it did. Why did it suck, because our OC is just not cut out for UT, never has been.

We win 10 games a year most of the time, play in great bowl games for the past 16 years and even win a national title 7 years ago and we do this with one head coach and we have a fluke of a year and some people think he needs to be fired??

I am baffled by this. Just think one day you might get your wish if the bad seasons total 2. Just think you may end up with a coach who could be horrid. What makes you think that a great coach would take over this program?

There is a better chance that we get a coach who has not business coaching UT.

Think about it....what honestly makes you think that UT can find a better coach?

You dont win 10 games a year, goto great bowls and win a ring and all of a sudden wake up one August and not have a clue how to coach.

The problem was with the offense. It has sucked since Cutcliffe left. We had the best recruiting class in the country last year...they are rock solid!

If you think Fulmer needs to be fired, it just shows what a complete fool you really are.

I bleed orange, I hate losing...for pete's sake I coach basketball at a small college in the midwest...losing sucks! But one horrid season does not decide that a change needs to be made in the head coaching position.

I just sit back and laugh at everyone who says Fulmer must be fired. It is actual ridiculous.

They hire Cutcliffe, get back to winning next year and then you will look at yourself and your posts and see how stupid you look right now.

Look at Notre Dame a few years ago..they pushed Lou out because of a below average season with their expectations...and look what happened..they hit ROCK BOTTOM for years to come because they..like UT thought they could get any great coach to come in. Nobody worth a crap wanted the job and they went thru two really bad coaches before finding Weis.

I couldnt agree with you more, the fans expectations are at such a high that no one could keep with them no matter how good of a coach you have. Fulmer is a great coach period. One bad year in 13, I hardly see how he should be fired. If he was fired for that, then Mike Hamilton should be fired.
Edit: to the guy above, your going to fire every coach if thats your expectations, those werent bad years, some coaches thats the best season they've had.

Sports is about more than winning and losing. MOst Div.1 teams need to refocus on the importance of teaching. Tennessee's problems off of the field (albiet they are not alone) are one major reason to fire Fulmer. He is not there parent but I am sure he catches the flak when they screw up so in way he is answering for these actions. The recruits are highly recruited players but in the game of life some are sub-par. He needs to get back to teaching life lessons and the football will improve. You as a basketball coach should understand with the off the field problems the on the field product had better make you not focus on the negatives. Win and all is forgiven..lose and everyone gets tired of the crap.

I do not approve of convicted crimanals getting only a 3 game suspension. You go tell the victim who laid on the basketball court while people bounced and dribbled the ball around his head that Fulmer did the right thing, You think Fulmer has the balls to look that guy or his family in the face with his eye damage that Mcdaniel got a fair punishement?
I lost all respect for fulmer so he could save his starting defensive lineman.

And you, in turn, are cracked.

Obviously you've just come around....

The decline is 7 years long if you measure it by wins and losses verses ranked opponents.

PR people and folks from the MAC, the MWC, the Pac10, CUSA and Big East are free to talk about Win-Loss records while ignoring SOS.

We're the SEC. We ain't such idjits. We only judge W-L records with SOS and wins and losses against ranked opponents factored in.

You guys are trying to re-frame the argument into something simplistic none of us who opposed your views actually said rather than coming up with counters to the real conversation.

While I've got to give you props on your truly vivid W. Bush impression, do we really need any more empty, beside the point, vaccuous words in our discussion of the Vols and what they need?

There is a difference between falling short of expectations and complete collapse. This season was the latter.

I expected you to rag on me for getting political, not take my point and make it a better political rag.

Geez.

Of course, you've got to factor in at least a 30 second mental delay when you are dealing with fans of a team from Corvallis.

Our OC who you want to blame everything on is making $186,000. Our head coach who you dont want to blame anything on is making 2.2 million.

Maybe my math's bad here, but looks like we are paying our heach coach a lot of money for nothing if everything is the OC's fault.
