If you don't think sirmon and wilcox were going back to the west coast in the near future. It just caught us offguard and sucks.
Bash Dooley about a lot of things, but this was going to happen in some form or fashion. Most thought it would be after next year.

Everything will be ok.

It's the timing that really irks me. We always seem to get screwed close to NSD recently

Agree. There must be a lot of women on this board because the panic and meltdown that occurs here is unbelievable. Having a mediocre DC leave does not make me feel the sky is falling. Honestly, what did Wilcox do that made us feel good about the defense?

So if we've learned anything the past couple years, it's don't hire coaches from the west coast..

It's not so much Wilcox as it is Sirmon. Guy is a rising star.

If we just beat a terrible UK team that had a WR playing QB this wouldn't be an issue. It's all on Dooley ultimately.

Disagree completely. Does the urge to "go home" a factor for most? Of course. I live in FL and hate it and yearn for the day to go back to TN/WV where I am from. But I would not go there to shovel horse poop. That's the problem here: a bi-lateral move to Washington? Really?

A part of me thinks we need to find someone who likes living in the South for God's sake and stay away from West Coast roots. Let's face it, Knoxville is nothing special when it comes to places to live. Especially compared to SoCal or Seattle. That's why we need southern roots as a coordinator.

Something is wrong in Knoxville though. Perhaps Hammy really did stay too long....

BTW: I love to smell my own farts. And when I am out of gas, I often place a fresh turd in front of a fan for some seriously fresh sniffing....try it sometime. You'll get a creepy kinda woody.

It caught us off guard, no way it caught Dooley or Hart off guard.

I'm sure there were no surprises after the baylor game. I'd bet my wallet there were multiple conversations between agents and coaches that day.

I don't blame the coaches. People don't undertand how many people from the NW are territorial just as we are in the SE. It's an easier job, easier path to success, and you don't have media and fans busting your ass about football 24/7.

Their are a lot of amazing recruiters out there but I see the point with Sirmon....He was good from the aspect of being a good coach.....

I am not worried about the loss of Wilcox......

Again - no surprise - good opportunity for both of them.

But is also an opportunity for a return to our roots of hiring good SEC territory coaches as well as recruiting the same type players. With or without Dooley.

makes no sense. You completely disagree, but suggest staying away from west coast coaches.

YES! The city of Knoxville is night and day versus the West Coast in every way. It's not a slam to Knoxville. I would prefer to live in TN.

But I am our West every 3-4 weeks and it is a different vibe in every aspect.

Might sound stupid but we NEED southern roots for some stability.

Women get to work cleaning up the mess while the men wander around looking for somebody to blame for it.

Goes to show Wilcox doesn't think he can coach against real football teams. Would you rather coach against mediocre teams every week or ranked teams every week. Just like Boise state, he was a great coach but who did they play every week? No one....

He was supposed to be able to stop the spread (as he did with Boise against Oregon) but couldn't slow down Kentucky.

Let me restate. I disagree with the premise these guys would head to the West Coast anytime soon for the likes of Washington.

VOLNATION: ask yourself this. What school in your opinion from the SEC compares to Washington?

Ole Miss? Kentucky? Was the urge to go home so great you would leave a storied program like UT to go to UW? Or are there some really severe problems with our program and Coach D we are not aware of. Don't fool yourselves with "Coach Wilcox was not that good" crap. He was highly sought after and left us for the ugly girl at the prom.

I hope the new AD takes some chances....

I have been to the west coast a lot and I would never ever live out there, great to visit but that's it. Football is nothing out there compared to the south and that's why only one team out there will ever do anything and everyone else will play in their shadows.
