You know why the Gator Nation is throwing a fit?

I agree with the original poster 100 percent. He put CUM on notice that it was not going to be the same old song. Hey, they may hang 50 on us this year, but sometimes you just have to take a punch to give one. I would rather them beat us by 50 and hit them in the mouth, than roll over and play nice if they will just beat us by a couple touchdowns like its no big deal. I really hope the team takes some of this fire to Gainesville in Sept. Sometimes its not "the best team", but "who wants it the most?"

Spurrier accused Kiffin of cheating on his first day as coach; UT ignored it. UF demanded and got a reprimand from the SEC office today. There's a difference, and the difference is a feeling of entitlement. UF has gotten awfully comfortable up at the top of the conference. And history has shown that there's only one reward for hubris.

Carry the fight to your opponent, Volunteers.

As much as I liked your first post, this was your finest moment...

Intimidators are nothing more then cowards, when you punch them in the mouth and stand up to them they lose their edge and cry foul. The best example is the late great Dale Earnhart who earned his reputation as the intimadator and he was able to get into alot of drivers head. The driver who took it to him and did not back down on the track was Jeff Gordon, Earnhart resorted to calling him wonder boy and accused him of cheating. Gordon did not back down and won several championships over Earnhart. No disrespect to any Earnhart fans on the board but the similarity between Kiffin being called wonder boy and Spurrier and Meyer thinking they are the intimidators seem to fit.

It's not because Kiffin accused Meyer of a recruiting violation; as close as Meyer skates to the line, that has to happen all the time. It's because Kiffin committed an act of what used to be called lèse majesté. He insulted the throne. He did not show due deference to the reigning authority. That's why they're all so......offended. "How DARE you!"

This is a gauntlet thrown down. This is a coach saying, "I've reviewed the last 15 years of Tennessee's history with Florida, and it stops here." We were pretty freaking comfortable as a #2 behind Florida for a lot of years -- even won a national championship from that position -- but now here's a new coach saying that that's not good enough. We are going to stand you up and hit you in the mouth and fight you back.

That's why, of all the things that have transpired between UT and UF over the last few years, this has the Mullet Nation in the biggest anti-UT uproar I've ever seen. That's why all the Gator trolls were out today. Tennessee has a new coach, and apparently he doesn't know his proper place.
Great post. I'd say he doesn't like playing second fiddle to the turds, nor should he.

"How would we react? Answer: in basically the same way that UF and the Jort Nation reacted today."

Not correct. Florida issued a shrill overreaction, totally lacking in dignity. We are not like that.

All I've heard is, "he don't know who he's messing with." I say NAY NAY, He knows EXACTLY who he's messing with and they can't take it.:clapping:

They are going nuts down here and I LOVE IT.:p

I was just going to say that this was CLK's way of saying we're in the mood to kick a little ass, a warning shot across the bow of the top dogs in the SEC at the moment if you will.....but your version sounds better.

Agreed, nice post Verc....

Great article breaking down yesterday's 'events'..

Here are some highlights.
"Kiffin hasn't even blown a whistle at Tennessee yet and already he's been reprimanded by the SEC commissioner, put in his place by the Florida athletic director and forced to apologize to a two-time national champion Gators coach -- all in the same day.

The more Kiffin opens his mouth, the more you wonder whether Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis got it right when he canned the coach four games into the 2008 season. I mean, who knew the famed Power T logo at Tennessee stood for "Talk"?"

and

"Some Tennessee fans might mistake Kiffin's knucklehead comments for strength, for assertiveness, for drawing a Rocky Top in the sand. But the truth is, Kiffin has done the near impossible: He has made Al Davis look as if he knows something Tennessee didn't.

Kiffin played to the crowd Thursday morning. He manipulated, and he did so dishonestly. Most of all, he casually and carelessly tried to damage the reputation of Florida's Meyer. Even the most loyal Tennessee fan understands the difference between a rivalry and a rip job.

The Vols' season officially opens Sept. 5 against Western Kentucky. But let's face it: Kiffin is already 0-1."

That about sums it up.. 9/19/09...

For the past twenty years we have had a coach that has tried to please everyone and didnt like conflict, didnt know how to get or care if the players were hype for the game and would bow down to Spurrier, Miles, Saban just to keep every thing running smooth. So most of us wanted change, I did, and I like it! Lane is putting fire into the team and fans. What he said wasnt that big of a deal. He probably should have worded it alittle different but it shows that he aint scared of any team, coach or of the media! He got caught up in the moment, we all have done that. Yes he may be alittle cocky but cocky is confident! And for those who said Florida will kill us for saying that if CPF were still here do you think we would have a shot? I know Im probably gonna get ripped for this thread but this is just how i feel, so lets move on and forget about this crap!

Opinions are like a-holes. Everybobody has one. Any way you slice it, agreee or disagree, Tennessee has been noticed!! This guy doesn't like it. The PTI guys did. Some fans didn't. Some fans did. Bottom line, it was said at a private function, more for entertainment value than anything most likely. If it got out, which it did, no big deal. Ultimately, this means nothing except that come 9/19/09 will be extra fun to watch. Don't miss the pre-game.

The best thing is Kiffin is getting Tennessee national attention, something it hasn't had since 1998... and something Tennessee will need to survive in the future.

Ski is a Florida tool. He is taking the side of the NC darlings. If they hadn't won the NC no one would give a rats butt what Kiffin said to Meyer. Geez boys, get some between your legs and act like a man.

Kiffin strikes me as a coach that if his foot is on the pedal and the opportunity to press it is there...He will...some of his USC teams scored 70 points or more on several teams so Florida and UGA and whomever else had better take notice quick...Quite frankly I love the fact he's so aggressive and he's really a fans coach too...I live for the day We score 50 or 60 on UF or Bama lol...Hard to do but thats going to be a fun day when it does happen.

*What does, "hype for the game" mean?
*If what he said "wasn't that big a deal" why was the SEC Comissioner involved?
*How can a coach who has never coached a college game in his entire career be cocky, and confident?
*We've all seen what the Myer's Florida offense can do, so why give them added motivation, and fire them up even more than they would already be?

So is Chris Lowe.

They don't like brash, and I guess they were very happy playing 2nd, then 3rd then 4th now 5th fiddle in the SEC.

They're the same idiots that were using Fulmer's stats from over a decade ago as good reason not to fire him.
