It's not because Kiffin accused Meyer of a recruiting violation; as close as Meyer skates to the line, that has to happen all the time. It's because Kiffin committed an act of what used to be called lèse majesté. He insulted the throne. He did not show due deference to the reigning authority. That's why they're all so......offended. "How DARE you!"

This is a gauntlet thrown down. This is a coach saying, "I've reviewed the last 15 years of Tennessee's history with Florida, and it stops here." We were pretty freaking comfortable as a #2 behind Florida for a lot of years -- even won a national championship from that position -- but now here's a new coach saying that that's not good enough. We are going to stand you up and hit you in the mouth and fight you back.

That's why, of all the things that have transpired between UT and UF over the last few years, this has the Mullet Nation in the biggest anti-UT uproar I've ever seen. That's why all the Gator trolls were out today. Tennessee has a new coach, and apparently he doesn't know his proper place.

Henry went through 8 wives. Sounds like Bama and their coaching search over the last years.

Great post, dude. I think the fact that our new coach doesn't seem to be at all interested in bowing down to anyone has rattled them a little bit.

Thought exercise: imagine that Vanderbilt hired a brash young football coach, and that he talked a big game, and that he ended up stealing a couple of our guys on signing day. And that he then stood up and falsely accused us of a recruiting violation, and said, "I love it that they had to cheat, but they didn't get the guy anyway!" How would we react?

Answer: in basically the same way that UF and the Jort Nation reacted today. We'd react that way because we're Tennessee and, well, they're Vanderbilt. And that tells you all you need to know about how the Lizards perceive the state of Tennessee football.

Spurrier accused Kiffin of cheating on his first day as coach; UT ignored it. UF demanded and got a reprimand from the SEC office today. There's a difference, and the difference is a feeling of entitlement. UF has gotten awfully comfortable up at the top of the conference. And history has shown that there's only one reward for hubris.

Carry the fight to your opponent, Volunteers.

I tried you little thought exercise. I think I actually blacked out for a minute.
