You know, we rag on Kenny Chesney a lot

Agree on Finebaum. He is a true scumbag.

As for Chesney, he's a traitor, through and through. On Florida's sideline wearing Florida gear, sucking up to his buddy Tim Tebow WHILE they are playing the VOLS? I'm sorry, but that is beyond reproach.

He wore a Red Sox hat not UF. He mingled with UF supporters, aww the audacity. My closest friends in the world are generational UF alums and I've attended numerous UF games where UT wasn't the opponent. I usually wear the other teams colors or go neutral and cheer for their opponent, unless a UF win benefits us more. They know where I stand and it's all in good fun. The day you can't associate with and embrace fans of another school, is the day you've taken sports too far or channeled your inner redneck.

Some of the best game day experiences I've had in my life have been in Gainesville and Tuscaloosa; you know the obnoxious white trash everyone on here seems to run into. Ignore the idiots and embrace the other 95% and you'll have a great experience everywhere.

Kenny Chesney says he still loves Tennessee football - GoVolsXtra Story

I cannot conceive of any circumstance where I would even consider wearing Florida colors or attire. There are some lines you just don't cross.

I liked Kenny Chesney better a few years ago. Couldn't bring myself to gator chomp for ANY amount of money and would only put on Florida gear while hanging out with Tebow long enough to make sure somebody was filming, yell Go Vols and punch him in the face.

You might be a financial idiot then or extremely wealthy. If I earned $42 mil a year, like he did in 2015, then I'll chomp as much as someone asks me.

While I'm not a fan of his music (nor any country music), his awards say he must be pretty good.

His awards say he is popular. You won't see Chesney's name appear on any 'best musician" list and I am pretty sure he uses songwriters. AND he's kind of weak, technically speaking, in his voice.

That being said, I will have to see pictures of him standing on the sideline in Gator gear doing the chomp before I condemn him as a fan. He's a likable guy and did a great job on the Condredge Holloway episode.

Toby Keith never wore a Texas Longhorn hat or shirt to make a buck. He's on the OU sideline with "Good Old J.R." most Saturdays.

Is Toby Keith playing intimate college bars on a college campus? The UF concert was at Swamp, I believe, which isn't a large music venue. You're front and center with your audience. I saw Kenny on the same college tour at New Amsterdam's on the Strip. We were halfway to the back and still only 15 ft away from the stage. Some drunk can easily rush the stage, throw a bottle etc. Little different environment than being in 20k seat arena with security everywhere.

Pretty damning evidence. I would never be able to stand next to a gator mascot or fan and pose for a picture.

Jeez, all the never-woulds. I'd say if you put 'em all in a room with a Tebow jersey and a $10 million dollar check that goes to the first one to put it on....

and that is important because??? you seem to be obsessed with money. what an admirable personal value,

Wtf are you? I simply made a statement about the success of his career. I'm sorry career success is low on your values totem pole. You're welcome for that SS check you get every month BTW "Pappy". All those successful careers pay for it.

Let's get a couple things straight.

1) Country music, THESE DAYS, sucks and Kenny is one of the reasons. "She thinks my tractor is sexy"? Really? George Jones and Conway Twitty were rolling over in their graves when that song came out. I've never been a big fan of country, but I respected it a lot more pre Garth Brooks who is the Michael Jordan of country if you will. They were the line of demarcation when it came to changing the landscape of their profession. The NBA used to be a lot more entertaining when it was a team game, then MJ came around and ever since all any kid wants to do these days is crossover dribble dunk on someone and come up with their own brand. MJ ruined the purity of basketball just like Garth ruined good country.

2) Kenny Chesney sucks. I keep reading about pandering to audiences and selling out to crowds for more money. He was worth millions before before the Tebow jersey gator chomping, how much more did he make because of it? If I were in his position I would have no problem coming out on stage and making the crowd feel good by joking about Florida's domination of Tennessee but NEVER...EVER....would I put on a jersey and chomp. Sorry but if you are a vol fan and you have no problem doing that then you suck too.

damn this threat has got a lot of hot takes. kenny chesney is the mj of country music? i genuinely chuckled at that. but then i got to the "mj ruined the purity of basketball just like garth ruined good country" part.... lol jeeesus man. the greatest to play basketball, ruined the purity basketball? ok.... hahaha

Not saying he has to wear a TN hat but a true TN fan wouldn't wear rival garb though especially Bama and Florida.

Why not? He already has their ticket and t-shirt money, might as well stick it to them again... Not a true VFL IMO...

Truth ain't bragging. You need to read am entire thread before jumping in someone else's shiite bud. Only people that have the I can do without $$ attitude are those that are generally broke and like sponging. I guess the only cool people like you are lurkers. Sorry all all you can eck out are a few posts a year that are mostly BS.

Don't equate making a lot of money with being a good musician. There are a lot of "singers" or groups who made a lot of money who were awful (Milli Vanilli, Vanilla Ice, etc.). Just because you fooled the public, who are often a bunch of sheep, into buying your mass-produced crap (I like to call it the "chain restaurant mentality") does not make you a good or talented musician. I would absolutely put Chesney into that category.

I have not read all the posts in this thread but enought to know there are hard feelings on each side of the is Kenny a UT fan or not. To those that feel he is not I suggest you listen to "Touchdown Tennessee". I would feel a person has to have love for UT to be able to create that tribute to John Ward.

+1,000,000

If you can listen to this and not at a minimum tear up, you suck as a fan. That production alone makes Kenny a fan on my eyes.

I outright sob sometimes listening to it. Has a lot to do with being homesick for Knoxville in the fall.

Talent is not required to have a successful career.

Geeze, slow day huh.

Ya'll realize KC has fans in more than one state right?

Whatever, I like his music.. have for ever. Now when he starts lock stepping with Putin.. then you can call him a turncoat.

Throwing stones at Kenny with a statement "Country music, THESE DAYS, sucks and Kenny is one of the reasons. "She thinks my tractor is sexy"? Really? George Jones and Conway Twitty were rolling over in their graves when that song came out."

She thinks my tractor's Sexy (get the title right) came out in 1999...

George Jones died in 2013... If George was rolling in his grave when that song came out then he had some serious mental issues.

Get your facts straight before you go throwing stones.

Kenny is part country part rock star. Nobody will deny that.

I love Country Music today. I loved it from yesteryear as well. I don't have to choose I can like both.

Music and art moves forward... it always has... it always will.

Thanks!

Jeremiah
