Well, he deserved to be fired. Unfortunately, Hamilton hired a faithless mercenary and the worst coach in school history afterward.
Could of had Sumlin he was here interviewing.. and should of went all in on Gary Patterson..

I know bro I'm at work watching telling the guys here it comes again esp after three straight runs up the middle just to run time off the clock... I called it and if I called it the Gators Defense coaches called it and knew what he was gonna do.. Worst play calling in the 4th quarter I have ever seen..

Saw an interesting stat also we are 44-2 when leading by 13 or more you know who holds those two losses? In over 100 years of football that stood undefeated till this yr... Think bout that for a min..

Is that about the 4th quarter?
We led UGA by 16 in 1980.

And, surely we have been ahead by 13 more than 46 times in 100 years.

I'm not sure I just saw the stat maybe I'm talking out my ass on it I dunno but I saw it and it stood out by me on those two losses.. I'm too tired to look it up, maybe someone will correct me if I'm wrong on that...

We were in on Sumlin and Whittingham in that search, I think. I don't think Muschamp or Al Golden would have been much better than Doofus. Cutcliffe would have been decent, but I don't think he would win championships.

Whittingham is a coach that's interest me this year.. After the Oregon tonight I love the guy.. He ran it up because of what the Ducks do to everyone and I'm sure they've did it to Utah before I'm not sure but I'm guessing yes.. But I think he would do good here..

Deserved to be fired?? Lol. That's rich. Maybe the way the coaching search played out would help explain the error in that line of "thinking". Legit coaches wouldn't touch this job after we threw a HoF coach in the trash like we did.

And if CPF deserved to be fired for winning all those games, then Butch deserves to be executed for his career record @ Tennessee to this point.

We weren't doing that very much either in the final years of fulmer.

So what would have been the better scenario? Keeping Fulmer another year or so, all the while really doing some serious interviewing and possibly making a very good investment in a great coach. Or suffer like we have ever since? Was it Fulmers time to go? Probably. But making stupid knee jerk hirings by our stupid ADs have sunk this football program.

Which is why Butch should not be fired. Tennessee will never be willing to pay the price it would take to haul in a top tier coach, and right now their scouting of coaching talent kind of sucks. I say kind of, because Butch at least has served the purpose of getting the cupboards stocked. I just honestly don't see things improving with a coaching change at this point. Gruden is not coming, and neither is Kelly, so why put the University even more in the hole by having yet another buyout on the books, AND running the real risk of just bringing in worse.

I am not banking on it, but I also would not be surprised if some staff changes are made over the course of this year. However, again, the only way things improve is if Butch re-examines himself and his system. Defense is fine, just quit letting off the gas in key moments. The 4th down conversions were almost entirely due to them letting up and going prevent.

His offense just flat out does not work. Trick plays are fun and all, but if you seriously need those to get things rolling, you are in trouble. This offense is terrible, and after watching Florida's line play decent enough to buy time for some key pass plays, I'm calling BS to the idea that it takes years to build an Offensive line. His chances rely solely on his ability to admit defeat and to change things up. Which is much easier said than done for a multitude of reasons.

Florida played 3 freshmen Oline and a Red Shirt Freshman QB. The youth excuse is over. Butch needs to take a long look in the mirror. I also agree that this offense sucks out loud. You can only mask being one dimensional for so long.. Teams finally figure out you have a runningback playing QB. Really wasn't Dobbs that lost that ball game last night. It was Jones and Jones only. It's his staff, his defense and it's on him.

In his jubilation, the Florida coach spoke the truth.....We are navel lint to them.

He probably means as a Florida coach he's required to beat Tennessee. It's a game a Florida coach just doesn't lose...and "Choke" Jones just had to let it happen...AGAIN. I really have a strong dislike for Jones right now. Choking away games like this is totally unacceptable.

I've said this over and over. As long as Neyland is a sellout the folks that make low budget, hasty, gambling, etc hires dont care. You have got to attack that if you want SEC ready coaches.

It has been a long 10 years. Now, I have to accept that my other alma mater Northwestern, is better, in football, than Tennessee.

Let that sink in, Northwestern is a better football team than Tennessee.........I never thought I would see this day.

I guess I can be glad that I got to watch some of the greatest vol teams take the field as a 80s child. I got to see all the 90s and go to games as a kid. Just hate that my kid won't get to see that same greatness. This is the new Tennessee.

Sure appears that way. Teams take on the character of their coach. UT seems incapable of making those handful of plays that come around in each game against better opponents. Instead they tighten up, make mistakes and watch the opponent make those plays. It's in their heads now. Not sure butch has anything more than cliches, platitudes and silly sayings to share. Toss around his favorites ..."resilience" and "perseverance" and hope for the best is what I expect. Listen to Mora after last nights game or Saban. Those men are the type we need here. The Butchisms have already worn thin. Butch is a 7 win type coach. He's not going to win championships. He can recruit talent at least early on but he can't utilize it. Eventually the recruiting will drop and when it does, UT will pull the trigger and start all over again. Butch will get another year or two at least but this is who we are under this clown.

We are pretty much the top of the bottom 1/3 of the SEC and have been for a decade.

This appears to be our lot in life for some time.

He is right - and I cannot support this crap any further. Until we get a coach that can coach - it is not worth my loss of sleep.

This whole program is a laughing stock. I can sit here and type "I am done with this crap".

This board can fire back 'Good riddance' - the reality is that dollars and support are critical to a program. I just cannot do it ... the last 8 years have just been stupid. I thought I would never feel this way after Dooley - actually I feel worse as I now see a team that is fighting its heart out - but coaches that are learning on the job.

Florida wakes up this morning - as a program on the rise. Tennessee wakes up with a program that has unrealistic expectations.

As a fan who was looking forward to taking his family to the first Neyland experience - I have since cancelled our South Carolina. I cannot do it - I love my school but supporting this staff is something I will not do with my dollars.

Tennessee will come out of this - however, it will be 8 years. We need a new coaching staff that is not coaching to lose but having the gravitas to play aggressively.

Seriously a qb sweep to the short side of the field on 3rd and 11 to WIN THE GAME! Who does this?

With injuries and starters suspended. Jones is in his third year and all we hear is excuses. Our players played their hearts out!
