You guys need to calm down

Look guys, we all want to be back in the spotlight and to be seen as on the "up." People need to realize that having an ex-NFL coach who isn't afraid to speak his mind while pulling in top recruits from rival SEC areas will bring some media attention and trumped-up stories.

If we don't want hysteria, then let it roll. Hundreds of pages of threads with links to the NYT article and the hostesses in question will only fuel the fire. Let's act like we've been there before....which we have.

I bet with all the NYT and ESPN "journalists" roaming these boards we could see some articles about the most bipolar fanbase in college football.

Nothing is coming from this allegation/review/investigation/whatever you want to call it. Do you realize how stupid all this sounds? Ooooooh, some hot girls went to a high school game, big deal. The NCAA won't do crap to any big school and that's been proven time and again (FSU, BAMA, OU, and soon to be USC). You guys are starting to freak me out on this.

Nice post. Thanks for being classy. I have met numerous rival posters on here and most of them, nearly all, are very classy people. Why can't I work with the classy ones. I get stuck with the obnoxious fans that cause me to HATE our rivals.

You know what, F that! You are completely missing the point on this one. We know nothing will come of it. It's the principle of the matter. If the national media can run wild with rampant speculation and devote more time to this "non-story" than the situation at LSU regarding the paying of players, then it seems pretty obvious someone is out to get us. Do you not understand how scary this is to us? They were able to open an investigation and trash us nation wide around a couple of college girls visiting a high school football game. The blatant abuse of power with no accountability or repercussions is what's got me all riled up.

The reason the national media is rolling with this is Lane. You have to admit that he runs his mouth anytime a microphone is around him. Just my opinion, but another fellow radio host in Clemson brought up the same point. It will come to pass and I doubt it will affect recruiting. Why? How can you prove that the University sent the hostesses? Unless they fess up, or unless they used a university helicopter or something outrageous like that, there's no way to prove that the University or coaching staff had anything to do with it. Is it a violation? Sure. I can't go to any high school around here in SC with signs like that. There are rules mandated by the NCAA and every school must follow. I got a copy of the rules when I was in the Gator band. It's a violation whether it's a booster, orange pride, band member or fan. It's not a major one and it's not going to warrant anything but rolled up newspaper to the nose and a bad boy. As far as recruiting, how will this hurt? If I was a high school phenom, I would want to go where the girls are. This is nothing in the grand scheme of things. Now stop obsessing over this and move on and talk about your bowl game with Tech.

+1 on the post, gogators. I mentioned as much yesterday on another thread. And Kracker, I am with ya. all the rival fans I work with and the couple of bammer friends I have friends are far from classy. I was in Nashville over the weekend and had my big, heavy UT jacket on and had 5 or 6 people go out of their way to come over to me and say "R$%^ T*&@"!! I was like "really?"- "you guys act like you've never won an SEC Championship." ---and that shut most of them up. Then I hit 'em with "Hook 'Em Horns, Baby!" lol

1st Nashville does have some bama fans - sorry we forgot to flush
2nd asking a bammer about championships is asking for a lesson in math that couldn't get you out of the second grade

Bama does not have fans, they are all cousins and brothers and sisters ... simultaneously.
