You guys are much improved

True, but it's easy to say this kind of stuff when your team wins.

I agree but the negative vibes from so many vol fans is ridiculous. It's ok to say we sucked in some areas yesterday. Because we did. But to write off a team after one loss amazes me. The people that say they are tired of excuses and calling for coaching changes are just sad to me. I really think about half of the fans both in here and at the games just go so they can ***** and moan to each other. It gets old to hear this every year.

I totally agree. I'm beyond frustrated with the game yesterday, but I also know that when we play Buffalo, I'll be tuned in cheering again. Vol football is an addiction, even when times are rough. :)

Wow I appreaciate the thread and sentiments BUT its too bad that you are a Florida fan and not a Tennessee fan. Its just a shame that we have a Florida fan telling VOLS how to support their team. Nothing against the post or you just hate all those out there that are already looking to 2012.:peace2:

- You fought through the whole game. Most of you posting during the game gave up when the score was 30-7. Shame on you. Your team fought back brilliantly. I really thought Dooley was a good hire and the improvements between last season and now show that. You may have given up, but the players did not and went on a 17-3 run to end the game.

- I don't know if the officials called a terrible game, or if both teams were that sloppy. There were many non calls, bad calls and good calls. The game wasn't decided on a penalty or by the refs which is good.

- I'm really sorry about the news on Hunter. The kid is a beast and I'd have rather played with him in the game and the Vols at full strength. That was a fluke injury and I wouldn't wish that against even my most hated rivals. I hope he recovers 100% and comes back with a vengeance next year.

- Both teams couldn't hold on to the ball. I don't remember how many dropped balls that would have gone for first downs UT had, but UF had some as well and at least 5-7 interceptions that were dropped too.

- Remember both our teams are young. We both will only get better. The Vols are on the rise again and that should get you guys pumped. You have the chance to watch this team grow before your eyes and rise to a national power. How many fans can say that about their teams?

- The intensity of both Dooley and Muschamp is incredible. We both are going to win many games with our coaching staffs.

Best of luck the rest of the season, my friends. :salute:

Thanks FG. We took a double shot on the chin yesterday and went down,,,but we ain't out. We get GA and SC at home, you guys get GA at home but face SC and the Ol ball coach in his new back yard. This ain't over yet with a lot of great ball to play.

I don't see the "much improved" aspect. Maybe my definition of much improved is different

Well for starters when the team was down 30-7 and DID NOT QUIT. Our pass protection was also imporved from a year ago when we had given up MANY MANY sacks. We have a great duo left in Bray and Rogers. Maybe my definition of a TRUE VOL FAN is different. I hate the loss as much as the next person but we have a lot of games left and plenty of time to make more improvements. They will make them with or without your support so if you want to cry about how we haven't improved go cheer for another team or just give up watching football but stop with this nonsense whatever you do.

Shut up with this nonsense about what I can and cannot talk about as a fan. The run game is probably worse at this point than it was last year and we still haven't beaten anyone worth a damn. Therefore, I don't see how we can be "much improved". I appreciate the hustle the players showed as much as the next person, but that doesn't mask the fact that we still have some glaring holes. Deal with it.

As Vol fans we are dealing with it. Some better than others. To be blunt, we are still on the plus side of .500 so that makes us better than last year. The loss in the swamp was bitter, and yup, I was one of those that predicted a big win. Didn't happen. But cry in my cereal, piss in my soup, hell no, we still have a good team and will only get better. Hunter is a huge loss for this season, but will give some quality kids the opportunity to step up. From here on out we will see how great of a coach DD can be. IMHO I think they will reload, revamp and push on. We still have the team to go 9-3 on the season, and at the very worst 7-5. Yes we have some glaring holes - and probably the biggest hole is depth. Florida is young, so are we. But look at the key positions (Brantley,,what 5 years, Rainey, 5 years, Jenkins (RSS0) 3 years, Nixon, JR) not making excuses but the asshats keep saying that Florida is younger than we are - but they neglect to mention that at key positions Florida is playing RSS and RSJ's. Florida may have as many fresh and soph on their teams,,,but how many in key positions and how many have they groomed for a year (or two).:?

I'm tired of the word "patience" being thrown around. I know this team needs time, but we've all been hearing this since the conclusion of that horrendous 2005 season. Just when we feel a little bit better about ourselves, we lose one of our best players on a freak injury and get smacked for the seventh straight season by a team that probably just laughs at this program now.

I'm tired of it too, but it's our lot right now. And some fans need to realize that just because patience wasn't warranted for the staff we had from 2005 to 2008 doesn't mean it's not warranted for this staff.

Dont even try to act like you wanted Hunter in the game. You know your Gators lose. If Hunter is in the game the Gators D gets stretched and UT throws at will underneath all day long! You want him to come back with a vengeance next year, yeah right!

Dooley is intense. Muschamp is a major azzhole. There is a big difference.

Go climb in the back of your trailer and get on the Gator sites and stay off of UT sites! We don't want your false empathy! Have fun losing to Bama, LSU, and another SEC team!

Sorry I forgot that the only aspect of football was running. We have improved in several areas just looking at the stats even though we have played two lesser opponents and Florida. All I was trying to point out is there has been improvement, I just dont see how you can deny that, albeit there are plenty of areas that they can improve on. I guess you look at the glass half empty and I prefer to see it half full. And the last point I will take your first line "Shut up with this nonsense about what I can and cannot talk about as a fan" and add that applies to everyone not just you. Hope the Vols have a good couple of weeks of rest and practice. :salute:

Wow, I'm disgusted by some of you so called "vol fans". Some of you have no class whatsoever and I'm surprised you even know how to turn on a computer, much less post on these boards.

volsgrad89, get a life.....you give good vols a bad name. This gator came on here and showed nothing but class and you sit here trying to cut him down. I highly doubt you ever stepped foot on campus in Knoxville.

Osbourne,

Don't be rational and talk sense. You make too much sense for this kid to understand. Lol. I mean he states "objectivity is a sin" at the bottom of his avatar. So why try?? :) We are vastly improved from last year, I agree with you

I bailed from my upper-deck seat at 30-7 and caught the start of the comeback attempt on the monitor downstairs. I didn't want to jinx us by going back, and I had a headache from getting dehydrated in UF's "football weather," so I watched the monitor downstairs until the final pick. Of course, by sticking around, I had to listen to the loud, lucky knuckleheads that comprise part of the student section.

Do you realize the last three times we have been anywhere near beating UF, we have had at least one injury to a key player (2006,2010,2011)? I guess you could say we came close in 2009, but not really.

The talent on UT may be lagging a bit, but the effort isn't. I applaud the Vols for hanging in there. I was expecting UF to blow the doors open. They only needed to run the RB screen pass (we didn't stop it all day!).

With all the miscues and big plays by UF, UT had its chances on Sat.

UT will learn to win these types of games, I just wish the learning curve would speed up.

Good post OP. It's a shame most of our vocal fans aren't as knowledgable. I think Florida would have won the game even with Hunter playing.

Now children of Vol Nation need to sit back and wait your turn. Dooley is the right guy and it will show up in time.

UF is not a young team, it is a seasoned team. Replacing the seniors you lost last year does not make UF a young team, that is normal. UT on the other hand IS basically a JUCO team.

I do think you are right about one thing. Our kids played hard, and if they continue to work like this eventually our SO class will be SE, who by that time, should be fully loaded and hard to handle.

The seven year curse that has been placed on UT by a powerful voodoo medicine man is over after this year. Once a curse has been lifted, not another curse can be applied for fifteen years.

You do seem nice, and I would say best of luck to UF this year, but it wouldn't be sincere. Now please go away and make nice with your next opponents fan base.

In all honesty, I don't like Muschump. I can see Florida getting better defensively, but who are the playmakers next year with their studs gone??

Yeah, I still think Muschamp is a good coach but I've lost any respect I had for the guy for acting like a spoiled child. It's one thing to be upset at some calls but most of those pass interference calls were blatantly obvious. His actions were much worse than Kiffin ever was. I'm glad they have him instead of us; he fits in well with Thuggery U.

We're all very impatient but you also have to realize the Gators still have a big talent advantage over us. Apparently. the Gators strategy to keep from getting beat deep was to hold and hope the refs wouldn't catch them, give up 15 yds instead of a TD. By the same token, how many interceptions did the Gators drop--several? We're still going to have a good season.
