You fans are WRONG! Ainge and Phillip did GREAT!

Ainge has some terrible reads tonight. You expect more from a senior QB. Compare that to the way Casey Clausen played in the 4th quarter of games.
that's all that is needed to be said right there.

Ainge=Clausen without the all-time #2 QB stats. Game was sealed. Seniors should not make consecutive game ending bad reads. For all the Clausen bashers, EA should be minced meat. I like EA, but after 4 years he was no CC.

erik ainge makes some nfl caliber throws. that being said, he's terrible. his decision making is terrible. he's scared to take a hit and buckles under pressure. tennessee wins that game with andy kelly at qb. if not for daniel lincoln, ainge loses this game on his own.

A back-up QB who can't run well because of a thigh bruise and can't throw well because of a cut on the finger of his throwing hand. That game was gift wrapped to UT and UT blew it.

also the star dt is out the running back is hurt. for some reason all this kind of sounds familiar maybe 01. I don't see how anyone can say ainge didn't cost us this game, I will have to say over the last month of the season he has looked scared when people bring pressure whether they get to him or not he gets anxious and throws before he needs to and also doesn't step into his throws like he should.

How does nine years without a title taste? Good to see you Fulmer honks are still around spewing your silliness. Since you're the stat genius, here's a task. Find me another coach at an elite football program who has gone 9 years without a conference title and kept his job in the last 20 years.

Been Vols fan for 37 years.
Don't do the forum thing, but geez I ruined a good Vols cap tonight.

Erik has been the most painful QB to watch in nearly all those years.

I know all the Vols coaches and players showed up to win and Erik well you seen it he lost the game.

At one time the annoucer said he was accurate and said he was kinda like a Peyton.

I nearly threw a Vols coffee mug thru my 47" tv.

I'm so glad I only have one more game to watch with Erik as a Vol.

Dark days ahead if we don't get a QB, I don't see one on roster for next year.
hope the recruiter find one.

geez number 10 screw'd us all, all by himself.

Have you forgotten Randy Sanders as QB as well as Jeff Ocheskski?

Not happy about tonight or the season in general, but I would bet he did more than YOU.

I really don't understand arguments like this one. It's like people do not think it is OK to sit here and question their QB's play. I've never played a down of college football, but it was painfully obvious to everybody Ainge was just not getting it done. At the same time I think it is fair to say that no QBs since Peyton and Tee have gotten it done. Erik probably gets too much praise at times, and too little blame at others, but just because we never played NCAA football doesn't mean we cannot pass judgment at horrible gamesmanship.

For awhile i never thought that we would see another qb that was less popular than casey clausen. ainge has proved me otherwise. when it's all said and done many people aren't going to remember his stats, but rathar the meltdown he had in the 4th quarter against lsu in the 2007 sec championship game. i hate to see a guy close out a career like that.

I agree that Ainge threw a completely stupid pass and was greedy there but I also hate our play calling. When we throw the same stupid 2 yard passes on every down the secondary can cheat up. On the occasion that we actually do throw the ball down the field it's successful nearly every time and it allows for more opportunities to draw pass interference. I think Ainge made a huge and costly mistake but I also have to question the play calling. For a team that only gave up two sacks all season you'd think we'd maybe take more chances throwing it down the field to balance things out and keep the secondary guessing. I'm very proud of our whole team though and love seeing the enthusiasm and heart we now play with (with the exception of Ainge who rarely seems to care). I think we have a lot to be proud of even though I'm sick and tired of "almosts"...

After that coaching excellence, give phil a big fat raise, a bonus and a long-term contract extension. He's second to none!

And their best defensive player sitting on the sidelines.

Not to mention the starting QB out, Dorsey out, Doucet put out, Holliday put out, and other starters who were out. And an LSU game plan that effectively removed Hester from any lasting impact as the game developed. The one major stud in the league. And all the wrong distraction for that team this week, culminating in bonehead Herbstreet announcing his sealed deal that Miles effectively withdrew upon Michigan's inability to honor the silence. This game was handed to us before we even left the locker room.

I agree totally. That's what makes this loss so hard to swallow.
