We have a great collection of QB and WR. Our TE and RB are serviceable, if not elite.

But the game was decided in the trenches. No scheming or trickeration changes that. False starts, sacks, and general disruption of rhythm were evident. Carter alone destroyed us. And we don’t have one like him. Just your typical 5* from Florida that Georgia and Bama have grabbed every year. Thomas and Terry are decent DT and Young is a nice pass rusher. But Georgia’s DL was light years better than Alabamas. And for that matter, they are better than anyone else’s.

There is no shame in saying we belong in the playoff but also don’t match up well with Georgia. If they play like that every game, they are untouchable.

Definitely didn't help the offense out with play calling yesterday. It was just a bad day all around.
Pitt did the same thing to us early in the season. Brought pressure and we never really adjusted. Makes me nervous. Surely heupel can scheme around an aggressive style of defense like in those two games, but we have yet to see it really

We'll see it at least two more times. Missouri will blitz and so will SCjr.. They likely won't have the same success as Georgia, but it may keep them hanging around long enough to get everyone nervous.. This team still has to show up and play well. We saw that they still lack players on both sides of the ball last night.

Seemed like we made no adjustments on offense at all. Hooker had his worst game of the season, overthrowing, underthrowing and taking sacks. The run game was all but stifled, but that was to be expected somewhat. Seems like our offense doesn’t know what to do when they can’t play their way.

Our offense is attack with 4 receivers, not max protect/one man route like Georgia did yesterday.

You stated that both Georgia and Alabama have grabbed 5* from Florida but Georgia's linemen are better then Alabama's. So, does Georgia grab the better 5* or do they do a better job coaching them up then Alabama?

It looked “off” because we were outmanned in the trenches. Georgia is probably going to win again. They are a great team! We are a good team. That is the difference

Not buying it. LSU and Bama have talent equal to UGA and we did what we wanted on offense. The crowd def played their part. I think neutral site and with an adjusted scheme that challenges the edges, we have a legit shot. Their offense did not impress me. Their pressure was good but the difference maker in this game was that Hooker played bad. He is the leader of this team. He was not beating anyone with his legs. He was a statue.

I hate to say it but if we had Bryce Young, I think we legit had a chance. Hooker is normally as good or better than Bryce Young. He was not yesterday tho.

Their walk on QB was definitely a dude.

There is no play call to counter what they did to us. They played elite man coverage, killed us in four man rush, and killed us faster on the blitz. We threw long when the safety took Hyatt. We had Hyatt break off a route when the safety blitzed. Both plays were open. Nothing else was. Georgia beat us. They play the same D as Bama. They got to watch all Bama’s mistakes and adjust. They had a great plan, and their players pummeled us. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. We have overachieved beyond any reasonable expectation. We are a few years away from regularly punching in that class.

And Georgia isn’t a blitzing team. They don’t have crazy sack numbers, which makes it all the more head scratching how Heupel never adjusted through the game to account for this.
The way to stop the blitz is to make them pay! We missed on a few long balls!

This is the best team we will play all year. UGA is a fantastic team but we are a few throws and blocks away from being in the game. The weather is also a factor that we did not handle well. If we play again I am confident the game is much tighter. Not saying we can beat them but it will be a more competitive game.

As I've said before any of us would (and should) be elated with 8-1 at this point with three "should win" games coming up. 11-1 AND still a chance at the CFP? Sign me up baby!

We are a very good team with a chance to be a great one if we win out.

Go Vols!

Agree with you. Bad matchups, poor execution and poor weather all nullified our ability to play fast and to our strengths. I tip my hat to UGA, they are an elite team and showed out last night.

I do feel like on a neutral field and better conditions a second matchup would be much more competitive. Hope we get a chance to find out!
