Hendon Hooker was one of - if not THE - most consistent QBs in the country in 2021. If he and the offense take a step in 2022...

This video breaking down Hooker's film appeared in my Youtube recommendations today and I thought I should share it with Volnation.

I watched as much as I could take and it's a good breakdown, but he needs to turn up the energy level a bit. I think all this info could've have been presented in less than 30 minutes and it would have been a much more watchable video.

I like the more lowkey, conversational style of some of these YouTubers as opposed to the glitz and pizzaz of traditional media. I don’t feel like they’re trying to sell me something.

He’s in the right system, a good fit for his skills. What tends to be under rated is the development he’s received from a coaching staff that puts him in situation after situation that gives him opportunities to be successful. Credit to Hooker for making the most of those opportunities, but football is a chess match between coaching staffs and ours does a heck of a job offensively planning AND MORE IMPORTANTLY ADJUSTING ON THE FLY.

Yeah, not watching that dude for 1-hour.
Don't watch 1 hour. Watch 6min30sec. That's when he transitions from statistical analysis to play-by-play film study. That first six and a half minutes is definitely worth it. Go Vols!

EDIT: having watched most of the video now, I have to say I really like the way this guy breaks down plays. He knows what he's talking about, he's good at teaching (I've learned some thing just in this short time), and he doesn't over-do the techno-jargon, which some fellas who know the game tend to do. It's a good video for any who want to understand how we attacked defenses last year!

Watched part of it but he does drag things out too much and is redundant. Oh and he repeats things too many times.

Agreed

This guy explains in a straightforward way wihout trying to impress with football speak.

I havent watched it all but this is the exact way i re-watch games...especially plays that their is an execution break down. Plus...i love watching a perfectly executed block. Doesnt matter if it is a vioelnt collison or just a tough ass reach block.

The rewind button gets used a lot when im rewatching a game.

Timing is a MFer lol.
Seriously...

Pruitt finally was able to get a real QB and they fire him 2 months later hahaha.

Before you say Huepel this or Huepel that, Hendon Hooker was very good at times at V Tech. His leaving was a controversy because many hokie fans thought he was the best QB. He was proven before Huepel...

Then with Huepel he became even better.
He'll get drafted and probably be a journeyman QB in the NFL a make a lot of money. I see him being a very successful businessman one day.

just because Pruitt GOT a great QB doesn’t mean he would know what to do with him. Giving Pruitt a quality QB would be about as meaningful as giving my teenage son (who refuses to learn to drive a stick) a vintage Porsche Spider 😂

Pruitt would have kept JG in.
