No brand sticks with what is obviously failed leadership. You fire quickly and hire slowly. And when I say fire quickly, I mean once it’s been shown that the person can’t perform at the level of job they have. It’s far more damaging to any brand to hang onto poor leadership then it is to pay $9 million dollars in buyouts. The longer this continues the longer you put the brand at risk.
UT Vols: Study shows Tennessee football program is worth more than $700M

Wrong, we have coaches who have many years of SEC experience and hardly anyone you genuises mention haven't any SEC experience and likely won't bring assistants in that have much either. The problem UT has is not enough players with a lot of experience. There's not a thing wrong with any of our coaches it's just gonna be a tough, building year and anyone knowing anything about football at this level would expect that to be the case.High on my list would be Scott Satterfield and Mike Norvell
Put the pipe down dude....you'd actually risk replacing this staff with Norvell? We have 3 coaches on this team with NC rings that I know of, maybe more. They'll get the job done faster than going through another search which is gonna cause all kinds of foreseeable problems. Do us all a favor and talk to a tree or a wall you'd have a better chance of them agreeing with your ignorance. This is a joke, right? He set the record for most number of wins in a first season at Memphis; then the next year he barely lost in OT to UCF in the league championship - you know, the same UCF that shortly thereafter throttled Auburn that had just played in the SECCG? Then they went to a bowl game (you know, those things we haven't been to in a while) and lost by one point to Iowa State, who earlier that season beat #3 Oklahoma and #4 TCU. Maybe you missed it, but a week ago his team beat another SEC team in Ole Miss.
He doesn't yet have Urban Meyer's track record. On the other hand, he's got an exponentially better track record than someone who lost six games by 25 or more last year and so far this year has lost to Georgia State and BYU.
Serious question: what do you think that Memphis team would do to Georgia State?
He wasn't a proven head coach when he was hired. Like many other good coaches out there now he was a coordinator prior to becoming UT's head coach. So is Pruitt and only difference is Pruitt has been coach on two NC teams prior to getting a HC position. This staff knows football more than any staff any AD in the nation could assemble in such short time.A big name, proven HEAD coach, I promise you, would be allowed the time needed to right the ship. We have not had a proven head coach since Fulmer.
How much experience does it take to beat GA State and BYU?Wrong, we have coaches who have many years of SEC experience and hardly anyone you genuises mention haven't any SEC experience and likely won't bring assistants in that have much either. Find a head coach that says Pruitt should be fired after 14 games. I think you’ll have trouble with that. Find a coach that will agree to a 14 game trial with no penalty for letting him go. I think you’ll have trouble finding your guy.Coaches also can look at their counterparts results and see that their buddy deserves to be fired.
I've got 53 years in and this staff will get us there once they get a few more key players and learn to play as a unit. It's very simple to me that the coaches haven't had enough time to even begin to develop some of our freshmen. Please realize that Henry T., D.Wright and a few more promising freshmen arrived on campus in June. When you have 45+ years come see me then. It's that simple. As far as a crappy coach, he's one of the most respected defensive coaches in the game. Now as far "fans", yeah we have some crappy ones, plenty on this board![]()
People really don't understand that Pruitt didn't inherit a super talented group. We have some talent now and it is going to get better but the majority of it is freshman and soph. with a few junior and seniors sprinkled in. Sure being a head coach is a little curve for Pruitt but I like him for the long haul still and I think this staff is solid. I think we need one more Pruitt class to really begin to get close in the depth department everywhere, 2 more and we should be for sure getting there. I just think we are seeing young players learning on the fly trying to mesh with our other players. I think we improve overall as the season goes if we stay mentally tough and players stay bought in. We need JG to play better, he has to step up at this point he is our best option. He has to focus on not making the same mistakes while at the same time not getting to down when he makes one. That get's JG in trouble more than anything, he dwells on a mistake to long. He has to shake it off and keep a positive outlook. His body language looked defeated in the 3rd quarter the other night, as a team we have to notice that and somebody has to go over to him and snap him out of that crap one way or the other. It may be time for Chaney to have a good heart to heart with JG, I am beginning to think his problem is as much mental as anything. People wanting to judge Pruitt now need to give him the season just to see it play out from a improving aspect, losing Gooden,Thompson and Bituli certainly haven't helped things on the defensive side. GBO!!!!!!!
No it's FACT.It really is as simple as you don’t put the brand at risk. We have obviously failed leadership. Once you know he’s not the right the fit he has to go. You may disagree, and think that we don’t know that yet . I think we do. But once you know it you have to make a move for the brand itself. At no point did I say we could get whoever we want. But it’s BVS to think we can’t get a proven coach.
Florida fired a coach middle of his third year after winning the sec east in his first two seasons, how the **** did they manage to get anyone to take that job? I’m genuinely curious.Sure thing. Now tell us a few things.
One, how much would it cost to get rid of Pruitt and most of his staff? Do you want to fire the S&C coach as well? What coach is going to want to come here kmowing they wont have 2 years? Also, who do you hire?
Its really easy days after a game to talk about what should be done to a coaching staff. Its not as simple as oh we are worth $700 million so we can get whoever we want.
You mean to tell me that some of you were expecting more in year 2 when we had not a single player invited to the NFL combine last year? That should tell you how empty the stable is and that doesn't get fixed in year 2. Be patient...we will get better.
So you want to fire a staff that has beaten 2 top 25 sec teams in 14 games with the same players that went almost 2 years without winning a sec game that sounds smart . And the talent coming in is good just young and we are changing from a spread to a pro style and having to play young talent cause most of the upperclassmen are poptarts.
