kiffin did call a crappy game....he need to lay off the TB sweeps on 3rd and 16

And the lateral passes - I think he had 5 or 6 of those in the first half. I'm guessing in the scouting report he thought these would work but after the 3rd or 4th - STOP! Haha.

When I saw those I think that was the first time I thought CLK was calling a bad game. Luckily after #6 he quit trying it.

To who made this thread and others like him.
You can go find another team here ->>>

+1!!!

Damn, some of you on here are pathetic as fans. Believing we have a TALENTED squad across the board is down right stupid. We won as many, maybe even 1 or 2 more, than we should have. We have a completely new staff...which means new plays and sets on both sides of the ball.

Yeah, we played UF/Bama tough on the road. Sure, we should have beaten UCLA. But, if you honestly look at this team, WE ARE A 7-6 TEAM. PERIOD. Will we be worse next year with a new QB and new offensive line? Maybe.

We competed every single game this year til the end. UNLIKE LAST YEAR WHEN WE LAYED DOWN IN THE 2ND HALF. Shut up, take a seat on the train, or GTFO.

To those of you calling us fairweather fans, which some probably are, you need to realize that the Lane Kiffin coaching regime is not the nazi party, just because i question him sometimes does not make me any less of a fan, i have every right to do so and i'll do it whenever i damn well please. i still support him and wish him the best, but some of the calls he made in this game made me scratch my head. you do NOT run the ball on 3rd and 15 or longer, and we did that three times tonight. Bottom line, this was simply a terrible game from a players standpoint and a coaches standpoint. sorry, i know we lost to the better and deeper team, but i sure as hell expected a better performance than this....from everyone.

Yeah bacause the Ol was giving crompy all day long to throw. Passing would have worked out great on 15-20 yrd patterns.

I am sick of hearing from bandwagon-riding fans about how UT is supposed to beat teams like VT based on tradition or other things of that nature. Guess what, folks? Tradition/history/prestige doesn't win you games, talented players do. The Fired Coach left Kiffin with a team sporting sub-par talent. I, for one, did not expect more than 8 wins this season. 7-6 is about as good as one can realistically expect for this team with the talent that we had this year. I am happy with the season and fully support CLK now and in the future.

GBO!!!

Not at all. But I think it's a little bit of a cop out to chalk this one up to being outcoached. Va Tech is clearly just better than we are. I don't think they are 20 points better, but they are definitely better.

I agree. The only thing I blame the coaches for is not having the D more ready for that last pass before halftime. I think everyone thought Tyrod was just going to take a knee. However he didn't and we got burned.

Beyond that, the simple fact is that we did not match up well against VT in the trenches. They were bigger, stronger, more physical, and more athletic than we were and they pushed us around all day long. That's a fact! We looked absolutely tiny compared to VT's athletes.

Denarius Moore should've caught that pass, yes. However I still don't believe it would've changed much. To my eyes VT was in complete control of that game the whole way and we were never any serious threat to them.

This bowl game should serve as a wake up call to everyone to just how far we have to go to be an elite program again. I believe we'll get there but everyone needs to be patient.

I would hate to be some of these naysayers wives, kids, or husbands if it applies. Because, one could bet their bottom dollar that the wives/kids/husbands gets blamed for all problems in their family.

These aren't the type of guys I would want to go to war with. They would sit sniveling about getting their butts kicked by the other side, maybe even defect to the enemy and tell all our secrets...traitors in the making, in my opinion.

What ever happened to loyalty?

Your wives and children have my sympathies.

After one full year I remain pleased with our new coaching staff, and recognize that this year (and probably next) we are lacking in depth at some key positions. However, what I fail to understand is the repeated criticism with comments regarding "Failmer" and "Fulmerites".

When our team shows up and plays well... Florida, Alabama, Georgia, etc... then the new coaching staff gets all the credit for having the players ready and putting together a good game plan. But when the same team doesn't show up (which was definitely the case last night), somehow it becomes a Fulmer issue. To me this seems quite hypocritical. By all means and measures, last night we were out coached, out played, and apparently out prepared. Give Beamer, his staff, and players credit... they played a great game.

If you really want to be on the Lane train (which I am), then it would seem reasonable that at some point you also have to depart the Fulmer freighter. If you really are a fan of the Vols and the new coaching staff then stop harping on the past, enjoy the present, and look forward to the future... it should be a nice ride.

They didn't play 20 points better, either. I'm not sure what to say about those dropped touchdown catches.

This is for all the guys crying "out coached" and "out played" and "leaning" to get off the Lane Train....

You fair weather wanna bes don't understand the difference between being beaten by a better team and loosing.
You still live under the illusion that UT is a top tier team. We aren't and we haven't been for 5-7 years. We were a paper tiger for most of the early 2000's. We've been exposed.

If you aren't patient enough to rebuild then

Exit here >>>>>>>>________________

I, for one, am tired of hearing you b_tch!

When I saw the title of this thread I was all ready to pounce on you, but reading it calmed me down considerably!! CLK is coaching with a hand tied behind his back right now. Give him two years to get HIS recruits in the system and this loss will be a blip on the radar screen.

I agree with everything you said but the part about Moore... If we score there it's a ballgame again. We really just sort of faded out after that series. We definitely got beat by a better team last night but as I said above, CLK is working with one hand tied behind his back..... Once he gets his players in the sysytem we'lll see how good he really is, and it's going to be fun to watch! Next time we're at the Dome we'll be ready to kick some tail!

and i can agree with that, BUT it's also the coaches' job to get the players prepared and ready. i'll keep saying it, VT may have been better than us, but not as better as some of you are saying they are. You do realize we're talking about the same team that was a field goal away from beating bama right? look i'm not jumping ship, i haven't lost any support for kiffin, but the truth of the matter is, the coaches, the players, and all of vol nation had an awful day. and even the koolaid drinkers should realize that.

This. I've been a staunch supporter of Kiffin all year, but that was a poorly-prepared team. And a lot of the offensive playcalls were just mind-bogglingly dumb - reminded me of the Randy Sanders days, and that's not a good thing.

For all the naysayers just remember that in Saban's first season at Bama, the Tide finished 7-6. This is obviously not a direct comparison and I'd be flabbergasted if we arrived next December at the Georgia Dome 12-0, but rebuilding a program takes time. Fairweather fans can hop off the bandwagon right now, but I'll remain an orange blood through and through.

I thought the same. The good thing is, CLK will learn from the playcalling mistakes he made and will undoubtedly have the team better prepared next bowl game. This was his first dance, it takes practice.

I like the idea of having Jim Chaney's input, but I feel that he should have a more direct role in the play calling responsibilities considering the magic that he and Tiller put together at Purdue.

maybe that fact that our O-line couldn't stop the Tech D-line from harassing and/or sacking our quarterback has something to do with the fact that we didn't pass on 15 yards and longer 3rd downs...by the way...shhhhhh...don't tell anybody....but, when you have to pick up 10, 15 yds or more the receivers have to run longer routes which take more time which means the QB has to have a pocket that will stand up longer...don't feel bad, though....there are a lot of folks that don't know this based on the stupidity of their posts.

I have rode the Tennessee train through several coaches.... McDonald-Dickey-Battle-Majors-Fulmer and now Kiffin and BY FAR this is the best ride yet
