You are what your record says you are.

Using your analysis method. Bama ran a UGA team with Chubb out of their stadium. We barely beat a UGA team without Chubb. Thus, using your brainiac method of looking at football, Bama beats us 77-0.

Are you really trying to defend the position that Georgia is a good football team at this point? As much as you want to you can't discount the fact that Georgia failed to score an offensive touchdown against a team they beat by kicking three field goals who in turns loses to a Vandy team that is supposed to be two levels worse than pitiful.

I mean those are facts, right?

Before the game..."We don't belong on the same field!"

After the game..."Tired of blowing games!"

Who are you people? :scare:

Losing to Bama and Florida does not really hit anymore. It is to be expected. Losing to UK or Vandy is a different matter. Whether you like it or not there is where this program is now.

8-4 compared to going 6-6?

You tell me if that's improvement. Just get this. IMAGINE. We. Almost. Beat. Bama.

Scratch that, we HAD them. We were 0-3 on fieldgoals if we had just made two... We'd have won. I honestly thought we had them when it was 3rd and 27 with 3 mins left. If we had that stop we also win.

So let the people whine and cry all they want. I mean yeah we were all upset that our kicker wasn't even coming near the goal post on his kicks and that's a huge reason we lost, but out of all honesty we are a good team and we WILL win out and get a much better bowl game than that taxslayer BS one.

If we win out I'm thinking either Outback Bowl or Music City.

His point is to blindly look at numbers. That is stupid.
Exactly how is it stupid? Isn't the record the ultimate indicator of progress? You know, where you win more than you lose? According to you and, I don't know, just about every other member here, losing is irrelevant to progress. Losing doesn't matter as long as you see progress. It's the most backwards way of looking at it that has ever been advocated. Hell we could drop the last five games of the season by 1 point each and by your reasoning as long as we see progress all is good. At some point shouldn't we all be expecting all of this progress to turn into wins? I know, I know they are coming, right?

Look I applaud your optimism, but at some point wins have to start mattering. Progress has to translate to winning.

Unfortunately for a lot here that want to discount the record, you can't. At this point and time we are 3-4, you can't count wins that haven't happened.

Hey we have to spin these losses to help us feel better.

I'm hoping you're wrong. I hate UF. The only way they don't win the East is if UGA beats them.

"This is Tennessee, there are no moral victories" direct quote from CBJ.

Do any of you really think CBJ, the staff, the players really want a fan base that is content with seeing progress over wins? I would hope not.

I'm willing to bet that if you asked him he would tell you that he wants a fan base with a winning mentality that expects to hold him and the team accountable for the record.

He wants a team with a winning mentality. He has stated it over and over that he wants this team to expect to win. Not compete, but to win!

Do you think he wants the team to be content with simply showing progress? I bet not. So why shouldn't we expect the same thing?

You will note that I consistently said BEFORE THE GAME that I believed UT was much closer than others were saying.

I don't have as much of a problem with the loss as with the moral victory laps too many here are doing. Being so happy about being "close" is what losers do.

Who doesn't want to win? I've seen ZERO fans state they don't want to win.

Music City isn't better than Taxslayer.

We are getting closer. But I'd like to have been able to pull off a couple of upsets at least on our way up. Guess that isn't going to happen so hopefully we'll win when we have more talent and experience.

Trust me so do I! I hope they curb stomp Florida. But if their play the past couple of weeks is any indication, we may be disappointed.

I hope the Georgia win was the quality win we all want it to be. I'm just not sold that it is.

There is a HUGE difference (as Jones has clearly said) between wanting/hoping to win and EXPECTING to win.

I have seen a TON including you who do not "expect" to win. They're everywhere on this site right now glorying in a moral victory at Bama.

It's a tough one for me, but I think I have to pull for Florida. I like UGA being down and the recruiting floodgates opening in Atlanta.

People who complain about seeing a once proud program descend into the depths of the SEC cellar are not fans. Hah. That makes total sense.

People are complaining becuz they care about the program and have enough of a high opinion of the school and the tradition of the program that they think the school, the kids, the boosters, alumni and fans deserve to celebrate success. Not always being the ones who have to watch everyone else celebrating why we come up with reasons to be happy about losing every dam game.

There's a reason Vols have a rich tradition. It's not becuz of racking up hundreds of moral victories over the years. Winning is important. It's important for the morale of the students, boosters, fans and anyone who cares about the school.

All of the positive things about UT football for a hundred years has been based on WINNING. Coming close and moral victories mean absolutely NOTHING in the grand scheme.
the fanbase is changing, now you're a negavol for voicing your truthful opinion. sorry but I respect ya and I've seen this before, based on the coaching blunders this year there is reason to be critical of CBJ AND ANYONE WHO CALLS HIS AND HIS STAFF'S IGNORANCE to the attention of others isn't a negavol,
they care more than those who sit idly by and wait. Just a little more impatient.

I expected Tennessee to beat Alabama, just like I expected them to beat florida, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Georgia. I am not happy with Butch and worried about recruiting. He needs to blow the doors off the final 6 opponents. But will that really mean anything?

No one is completely content but there is real progress being made. This is not simply about a win or a loss as too many are making it out to be

There are also more than a few hoping UT losses so Jones is replaced. How about calling them out instead of people who want to discuss the improvement we've seen?
