I wasn't a huge fan, but they were one of the very few non-R&B/ beach music bands to get played in Hawai'i when I was in high school. This one and "Season of the Witch" are the only 2 I can remember.

Bands/ musicians I'd never heard of until I came back to the Mainland in 1972 after graduating (just a few):

Allman Brothers Band
Eric Clapton and his various bands
Jackson Browne
Poco
Yes
Eagles
Pink Floyd

Read a good piece on Warren a couple weeks when my son loaned me some f recent Mojo issues while I was in STL. I never had chance to see him in concert. Do have most of his albums
