Yet ANOTHER rumor for VN

where'd you read this, voldaddy?

I put it in my OP, but the name was removed and replaced with "another board." I wasn't aware we couldn't list another message board here for reference. PM me if you want and I'll give you the link. Mods, if this isn't allowed, please let me know.

Like I said in my OP, the guy that posted this is not a gossiper that spreads rumors just to spread them. If you hear the same rumor over and over, or hybrid versions of them, then there may be something to them.

I'll say this. If something like this does happen, I hope it is announced after the UGA game. Fulmer deserves a lot of credit for doing what he did, regardless of how badly the last few years have gone. I have been wanting him gone for several years, but would like to send him off with a final home game, where a lot of former players return, where we can express our appreciations for what he has done and for being a lifelong Vol, and wish him well. Give him a job in the UTAD doing something. Whether you like or loathe Fulmer, he's a great ambassador or UT.

I just hope this is true. Carroll,Cowher,Gruden any of those would be great. I feel bad for Phillip though. He is a good man but he honestly should have left after the SECCG last year.
He took us to the top and for that he will never be forgotten.

Great post, Voldaddy! That should be the prevailing spirit at this point in the process.

The only one on the list you should be saying no to is Clawson. He will be a great OC one day but give me a break. Every other candidate has proven they could turn the program around, ESP. Carrol

I think Fulmer is gone, unless he salvages an 8 win season, including wins over UGA and Bama.

That ain't gonna happen, unless Nick Stephens turns out to be "the second coming of Manning".

And that probably ain't gonna happen.

So...IMO, Fulmer is out. Losses to UGA and Bama seal his fate, and the real heat hits after the Bama game. The plan will already be in place, and that meeting will be held behind tightly closed doors.

It's up to Phil...graceful, or bloody.

I hope he chooses wisely.

After that, I'm hoping for a mid 30's to mid 40's head coach who has at least proven himself as a major college coordinator. A proven recruiter. NFL experience is a plus, but not a must. And there are a few names who fit that bill.

The name is not important to me. The results are.

go v(o)ls.

The "o" might be back. Stephens will tell.

Carrol wouldn't take it. They can go after him all they want. Cowher would be bad choice. So I don't know from there where they should go, just anywhere but fulmer way.

I don't believe that Cowher, Gruden or Carroll will come here, not for a second. But, if I'm doing the hiring, I at least make the call.

This is redonkulous. Phil's not going anywhere.

Note: Insert 'Vol Fan' in the place of 'you'.

If you refuse to attend home games, if you abstain from buying any Vol souvenirs/sports wear, if you become active in sending Alabama's, LSU's and Florida's best friend packing and you flood call in shows with militant demands for his removal then he WILL have to leave.

The bottom line: Its up to YOU.

more time I will scream! The man is a Super Bowl winning NFL coach who has been in the big league for many, many years. He will have his pick of jobs when he decides to get back into the game. Why is name is even mentioned is beyond me. Talk about a pipe dream.

Carroll isn't coming here either--tho, unlike Cowher, he would be worth approaching with a big offer. It's possible that the idea of competing in the SEC would allure him--possible but not probable. He'd have to be VERY unhappy at usc. Problem is, he's got it very good in the PAC 10--the trojans are the big dog in the league and the odds are very good that they will remain so. You can't even pick two other Pac10 teams that consistently challenge usc. It's USC and everybody else--has been for years. So Carroll would be taking a serious career risk to come to the SEC, where he would surely lose more games. I'd love to have him--love his smarts and energy--but a long shot.

Kiffin? Not sold on him at all.

Carrol has never seen defenses like he'll see in the SEC. Just like Clawson he'll get all "googly eyed" and it'll take alot of time to adjust-something we don't need right now-. Not saying that Carrol can't turn a team around, I'll give him credit for being a great coach in a watered down conference, but he'll have to pack a couple of bologna sandwiches and bring his homework folder. As for Kiffin goes, I just dont trust him to do whats best for the program he's working for.seems to be too self centered.:twocents:

Pete had no trouble with AU or Arkansas' defenses, offenses either. I think he'd be alright.

I can't believe anybody in their right mind would think Pete Carroll would leave USC for what amounts to a rebuilding job in the toughest conference in the country.

Good grief Charlie Brown.
