Yes. Storm the field if we defeat UGA (Go Vols)

I just think it's below us at this point to storm the field after a win, as we want to be seen as an elite program and elite programs don't storm the field after wins. In 2022 the Bama game was kind of an inflection point and one of those moments, like Florida '98 and Bama '82 (I was there) where the moment was so big and the emotion so great that it was justified.

To me, just the fact that we're discussing whether or not to storm the field is a clear indication that we've reached another level as a program, one where a win over UGa at this point wouldn't be shocking, even though it's been a long time.

Having said all that, there is zero doubt that if we do prevail on Saturday, the goal posts will once again end up in the Tennessee River and we'll be forking over a cool half mil to Georgia.

Been rushed more than just Alabama and Florida games. And this streak against the current state of UGA is certainly more justified of a storming than '79 against ND, '85 against Auburn, and '89 against Auburn.

And it's being discussed because there's a lot more platforms available to do so.

Don't disagree with the '79, '85, and '89 comps. Still don't believe it's justified this week. If it happens it should be a spur of the moment joyful deal, not pre-planned as this year will be if it does indeed happen.

It wasn't very organic in 2022, either. Was very much discussed prior to the game.

I just saw a headline where Mississippi State got fined $500,000 for storming the field the other night. That changes things for me. Now I'm not storming the field unless it's already stormed by other Vols fans and the fine is coming down the pike at that point whether I join in or not. I definitely won't be the first fan on the field and cost us the money we need to pay players & coaches, and upgrade facilities.
Point taken.

HOWEVER. You’re telling me the price of victory over Georgia is 4 games with Nico at QB?

Hmmm….

I know this an inherent insult to say, but I live in the here and now.
Heupel is 0-4 against UGA as UTs coach.
Georgia has won 9 straight?? They’ve been the dominant program in all of college football imo the last 10 years.

They have a QB that can run and throw.
They have 2 of the most explosive players that ever suited up for Bishop Gorman and Mater Dei starting. Zach Branch and the RB.
Their line averages 6’6 330 and 3rd year.

Defense…
NB (5 star)
FS (5 star)
NT (5 Star)
ILB (5 star)
and bunch of other talented guys in their two deep. CJ Allen. Chris Cole. A bunch of dudes.

If we beat them then we should absolutely storm the field

At what point do we stop storming the field because we are part of the elite again and expect to compete with and beat the top teams?

Don’t rush the field if we win.
Was Tennessee not elite when rushing it in '98? What about rushing it for Auburn in '89? That was while #12 vs only a #4 and a 4-5-1 record against them the previous 10. What about Notre Dame in '79 which was just the 2nd meeting ever?

Who does the SEC think they are? The schools should vote to get rid of field storming fines. Rather or not you support storming the field, its not fair. Fans should be able to celebrate. Its their choice. I suspect most schools would vote to remove fines, except Bama and UGA because schools tend to storm the field when they beat them lol.

we should be elite enough now to not do it and have to pay Georgia because of it

No **** Sherlock Alabama has won a lot and us very little. Its that track record that creates EXPECTATIONS. That's why Alabama had a meltdown this week after losing to Florida State. They expect to win every game. And that's why they won't rush the field against us later this year if they beat us. Cause unlike our loser mentality fans their fans expect to beat us every year despite the fact we've beaten them two of the last three.

My argument is after winning 10+ games two of the last three years and finishing in the AP top 10 that maybe it's time we stop thinking we're still that pathetic program from the last 20 years and accept we're back among the elite in college football. And that means not rushing the field everytime we beat a higher ranked team.

But I guess pride and self respect are foreign concepts to some people.
That crap against Alabama last year seemed so staged. The PA announcer was practically daring the crowd to rush the field and it was initiated by football recruits.

Lock them up and tell them they can sign with TN or serve their time for instigating a riot.

That doesn't answer the question. The '98 team was fresh off an SEC title, top 10 finish, preseason top 10, projected to finish 2nd in the East, only 2.5 point dogs to Florida (so hardly disrespected as some have claimed), and only lost 5 straight to them yet that one is idolized. The other two I mentioned are so obscure yet no one complains about those. Why is it so bad to rush it against a top 5 team, bigger underdogs, and a much longer losing streak? I swear, some live in the 90s and are too oblivious (or in too much denial and wanting the nostalgia) to realize that this is not the same UGA program it was when they were growing up.

IMO the only reason TN should rush the field after beating GA is if it turns out to be an extremely dramatic and unexpected ending. You know, in some way snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. That’s not to say it wouldn’t be a huge win and statement, it’s just that I think unless it’s a very emotional and dramatic win, you should kinda act like it’s business as usual, not like you’re extremely surprised you won. Just an honest opinion from a GA fan.
Absolutely. Planning to act hysterically is lame. This thread is showing how inauthentic certain people really are.

I don’t expect to win or lose this game. But I know someone is going to win and I can’t pretend the outcome is dramatic if it isn’t.

Guess 2022 rushing was lame and inauthentic, too.

In my youth we owned the Georgia PuppyDawgs down south. I understand why the youth may feel the need, winning is "the" standard @UT. We should go into everygame with the expectation of winning. Storming the field is for Appy state beating Michigan, not UT.
