Year 3

All of this "acceptable" talk is as hilarious as it is ridiculous. Let me make this easy for everyone. Butch will get at least two more years. Deal with it and please stop the tedium of this talk every single day. After that two years, either butch is winning and has proven himself, or he is gone and the cupboard is full for next coach up.

This is stupid and serves zero purpose.

I would have responded to this in total agreement, but I have already posted three times today and need to go have a lie-down. So I settled for giving you a like.

This year is technically year 1 with CBJ's first full recruiting class. 2015 will be year 2, and 2016 wil be year 3 at which time we hold CBJ to the fire. Until then, brick by brick.

So...there IS such a thing as "year zero"??!!

I don't know what is acceptable. IMO, 7 is the number next year. next year still have a lot of depth issues which has hurt this year. Certainly will be more talented depth but experience still lacking. Can't go through the season and expect the top 22 to stay healthy. That means drop off in play as starters get hurt.

So that means about a 7 win season as long as critical players, like Dobbs, remain healthy. Lose a Dobbs early in season 7 could be hard to get to.

I'm sure the heat will be turned up next season on the staff. it has gone up this season. But if we want to reset the program back to year 0 again all they have to do is look for a new staff.

This is a post I am paying attention to...simply because of who posted it.

The difference between 7 wins and 9 wins will be the Oklahoma and Florida games.

Spot on. And I'll add the fact that only 1 bye week could be a huge factor with the depth.

Eventually we will learn a coaching change won't make us win more games the next year.

If i had 100 likes, i would like this all 100 times. MY GOD we have got to stop this lynch mob mentality. I have suffered with every vol fan on here, but lets let someone get all his guys before we fire him. Yes, butch has got to win more games next year, 9 counting a bowl would be awesome, but 7 to 8 regular season wins and compete in all games. No bama 1st quarters, no OK blowouts. We have fallen off and must return, but please stop lynching every coach after every loss. IT HAPPENS IN FOOTBALL even great coaches lose sometimes. Sometimes you get outplayed, sometimes outcoached, sometimes both. BUT YOU CANT FIRE EVERYONE BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT PERFECT IT WONT FIX IT!:banghead2::machgun::gun:

Please explain your answer? I just don't see it

Bama, UGA, OK, will all be very good. I think Arky will be too physical for us. We can't beat UF in Neyland with Muschamp we sure can't beat them in the swamp with a real coach. Mizzou and USC are toss ups every year. 6 wins had been my prediction for the last 5-6 years and it will stay that until this program shows me something differently. Let's hope I'm wrong and you're right

Losses to Oklahoma, Bama, GA or UF and Arkansas

8 wins would a good season....

Fair enough, but: Are we really going to concede, or even suggest already that this TN Staff in its 3rd season having its own 3rd recruiting class cannot beat this FL team 4th game into the '015 season having a 1st year coach?

Am I missing something here?

8-9 regular season games

UAB -W

Oklahoma -W they lose a LOT of players from this year's team

Western Carolina -W

Florida -toss-up...just can't actually call it a win until UT does it on the field...although I think even though it is at Florida there's a better than even chance to come out of there with a win

Arkansas- L...I just think they are farther along than UT now, and will be then as well

Georgia - W...dunno why, BYT almost every time UGA plays UT they lay an egg, or very nearly do.

Alabama -L...just not there yet

Kentucky...W..UT farther along, although UK will likely be better

USCe -W...nothing they have shows that they are going to improve more than UT is

North Texas -W

Missouri-L...they were supposed to lose a lot on D this year...look how that turned out...I have a feeling this is going to turn into a hate game every year...rivalries with Bama, Florida, Georgia...but a just-plain-old-hate-each-other type of game with Mizz.

Vandy -W

SEC championship? I don't think so, but possible...definitely in the hunt. no worse than 3rd in the East, and most likely 2nd after Mizz...they win the tiebreaker.

My first real prognostication. Would be interested in other's takes.
Agree but OU and UGA are toss ups but it helps being at home. Both should be great games.

Same arguments made for Dooley. Year Zero, watering bamboo, needs to get his players, etc. Jones might out recruit, Vandy, KY, but not GA, FL, AL. He can get the players on equal footing, but then he and his clown crew will have to out coach them, and good luck with that.

Better question is how many freshmen will be forced into starting roles next year? I say the less freshmen starters the more wins.

ALL fans want to win, get better and contend for championships. That said., the so called Negavols always are ready to throw somebody under the bus and portray the so called Sunshine Pumpers as weak apologists who will settle for mediocrity. That said, Butch took over a depleted and demoralized program, history and tradition notwithstanding. We had a great recruiting class last year and are well positioned this year. I think 8 regular season wins is realistic for 2015.

I'd have to say 8 games. I went into this year saying to myself that I'd be happy with one more win than the previous year. Looks like (fingers crossed) that will happen. However, I think next year not only do we need to win one more than this year, we need to start turning those close games into wins.

Get back to a bowl again and more wins than whatever we wind up with this year. In stead of absolutes just keep moving upward.

I would start with the "givens"

UAB-win
Western Carolina - win
North Texas - win
Vandy - win

Oklahoma - loss
Florida - loss
Arkansas - loss
Georgia - loss
Alabama - loss
Missouri - loss

Kentucky - toss up it is in Ky and while they were beaten like a dog in Knoxville they have shown improvement and TN has not shown much in years on the road.

USCe - toss up. I am still amazed that Jones has owned Spurrier but it has to end at some point.

So I will go with 5 wins

I say 7, but I wouldn't be surprised if they get a few more. I will be completely disappointed if they don't at least get 6.

Obviously this thread is premature given we are nearly a yr away from year 3. But, to play along, I think 7 would be the minimum amount of wins that would be acceptable. 8 should be the goal that fans focus on. It should be fair and obtainable.

There are 5 "must wins" (3 cupcakes, Vandy, UK). Most of our roster should be a yr older and w/ another incoming top 10 class beating 2-3 of UGA, Fla, SCe, Bama, Ark, Miz, & Okla should be realistic....think UGA & SCe at home being the most obtainable of those (w/ Miz & Fla as wild cards depending on what they look like a year from now).
