Explain how the Tide loses to VT, OLe Miss, and LSU will be a dog fight. Don't forget the rookie QB is alot more talented than JPW and has game experience.

VT will be top 10, Ole Miss will be top 20 and LSU is LSU.... So what makes those games automatic W's? Not to mention Saban is 2 for 2 in seasons with an UNEXPECTED LOSS. Example ULM and UTAH.

BTW, we thought Crompton was more talented than Ainge....

They didnt award "all" of them, they "claim" to have 12, just as we claim 6. but bammers always say "we got 12, yall got 2".......WRONG !

To respond to the original post -
I fully expect TN to win more games in 2009 than Bama did (6-6) in Coach Saban's first year. IMO CLK is walking into more talent than CNS did. Much of that raw talent was present at TN in '08 but somehow the wheels came off and the talent wasn't able to translate to performance on the field. TN took actions to correct that problem.

Bama fans did not expect a 12-0 regular season in '08. Nor do the realistic fans hold that to be the new standard. Toughest game IMO will be the first game; against Va Tech. New QB and a couple of new starters on OL/TE are what makes this game the toughest. Several teams on the schedule will be tough outs and it won't be a shocker if we lose some of 'em. Hopefully we don't have any more La-Monroes though, and win the ones we oughta' win. No doubt the TN fanbase wants to see the same thing from the Vols.

Perhaps you are too young to know the history of your team:

Sorry to burst your bubble.

Dang, he has not been back. Perhaps he really did not know the story about their mythical championships. I may have just crushed this poor guy. Sorry young fella, perhaps it was better that I let you live in your dream world.

You should have known that he can't read. After all Alabama is forty-ninth in education........behind only Mississippi.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

That was a really interesting article. Thanks for sharing it.

The killer with all these antediluvian, retroactively awarded national championships is that, for decades, the bowl games were considered to be an exhibition. Sometimes the whole team didn't even make the trip. So when we look back from here at something like the 1939 Tennessee team, that literally did not give up a point the entire season and then lost its bowl game, and we wonder what in the hell happened, what we don't realize is that the season was over. It was like losing the Pro Bowl.

There was an old fan on here (and he may still be here; I don't remember who he was) that remembered the great Volunteer teams from the early 50s, and I remember a post in which he said something like, "You guys don't get it -- nobody gave a crap or even thought about the so-called "national championship" at the time. The entire thing was to win the SEC. We beat Kentucky, we won the SEC, and the national polls were an afterthought." It really is impossible to go back retroactively and try to figure out who the "true" national champion was in an era when they didn't really think about it like that.

In Bamma they learn that 25 comes after 16. It’s their jerkwater counting system. You would think they could use their fingers and toes to count up to 20 correctly.

Heck, I bet some of them could get to 20 with just their fingers.

Guys we weren't that far away from 8 wins this past year. WE had UCLA on the ropes until we went into the prevent, Wyoming and the shamecocks caught us at a time when the emotions were down. I am glad we didn't win 8 as we would still have our old coach but just pointing out we weren't that far away. With the new staff we should get back to 8 especially if they can make Coleman an average SEC qb .

While I would like to see Coleman be our QB, I have a feeling that Crompton will be our man again and show everyone what some good coaching can do for a kid with talent. During the 06 season, Crompton showed some promise and I feel that Clawson's goofy offense was the major reason he looked so bad.

With some good QB coaching and some decent playcalling, I think Crompton just may prove us all wrong. It might help if we can keep the opponents defensive line and LB's off of him too.

The flip flopping that our line did last year was goofy also and hurt us in my opinion. If Crompton can learn to just manage the game and our D plays like last year, Kiffin and crew have a great shot at winning 9 or 10 games this year.

I'm just excited about seeing what Kiffin will do with a top 20 recruiting class versus what Fulmer was doing with top 5 classes. I have a feeling that a top 20 class with some good coaching will trump Fulmer's results with a top 5 class.
