Up another contract!!!!!!

Dooley has shown a lot improvement. Even thou our players weren't ready to beat UF and UGA yet, We wen't toe to toe with them. I think if we go toe to toe with Bama and beat Miss St, we should give him a contract. Dooley walked into one of the worst mess in college football. 3 coaches in 3 years isn't something every program does and still have great seasons. Also, Firing Dooley would be stupid because we will lose recruits, players, coordinators, etc.... I don't want to start over again. We finally have a team that can compete in the SEC. Why put us back another 3 more years? That means 3 more years of losing to UF, UGA, and Bama. I don't want that and you negavols don't want that.
Go Vols!!!!! VFL!!!!!!!:)

Didn't we have two or three of these post yesterday?:banghead2:

Dooley is not going anywhere. If this team continues to play like they did on sat, i will be happy. Their demeanor was so much better than the fl game, playcalling was better. So many positives. I am happy.............for now.

Hart is in a tough spot. If we win 1 out f the next 3 and then undefeated in november then we are 8-4. Most people thought this was going to be our record. As long as dooley is competitive and goes 7-5 I see him staying unless there is a home run hire out there.

So here is my question what realistic coaches are home run hires? I know gruden will come up, but give me some more names.

No necessarily true the new HC would probably keep Jay Graham and Chaney especially since chaney showed he can call an SEC caliber game. But if we CDD doesn't pan out we will put ourselves 5 years back instead of the 3 we would if we got a new coach. CDD did walk into a bad situation but so do so many other coaches. Florida was a younger team this year and out performed us so youth can't be an excuse any more. South Carolina is younger than us also and USCe was a bigger mess than TN when spurrier took over and he has never had a loosing season there. The TN mess was just televised more because of the names involved. He has done a decent job recruiting player I must say.

Yeah I feel sort of the same way. That a big IF though hopefully that's a sign of growth.

VN is crazy town... You guys that think Dooley is going to compete for SEC Championships (let alone National Championships) at TN don't have a clue. It's painfully obvious that he's at best going to win 8 or 9 games a year. Yet some of you want to give him a contract extension? wtf?

Party at my place when the bafoon gets canned.

Your right...because this team needs the confidence and security from hart and the university...and the big name recruits will come......you build it they will come
The big name recruits will come when we have a coach that they believe will be able to compete against the heavy hitters in the SEC. Confidece comes from closing the deal and winning a big game, something our current
coach has proven incapable of doing.

Rivals would disagree

2011 rank #13 (one spot behind FL)

2012 rank #17

I give you that he isn't up there with AL, and GA but mediocre???? We got plenty of talent on this team and he is at least somewhat responsible

I posted this in another thread, but I thought that this would be a good place for it.

Rivals Team Rankings for UT:

2010 - 9th
2011 - 13th
2012 - 17th
2013 - 20th
(I understand that the 2013 class is far from complete, so I also looked at avg star rankings for the team and UT comes in 21st there. So while the class may end up top 10 or 15, the coaches will have to close out stronger than they have recruited to this point)

Scout Team Rankings for UT:

2010 - 16th
2011 - 10th
2012 - 25th
2013 - 24th
(As with Rivals, I also looked at average stars to compensate for the fact that this recruiting season is ongoing. In Avg Stars, UT is currently 29th.)

24/7 Team Rankings for UT:

2010 - 7th
2011 - 14th
2012 - 20th
2013 - 22nd
(Average Stars team ranking 2013 - 26th)

ESPN Team Rankings for UT:

2010 - 9th
2011 - 13th
2012 - 21st
2013 - Not currently in top 25 and ESPN doesn't show rankings beyond the top 25.

(Also, there is no way to sort by ranking score or star average on ESPN to compensate for the incomplete recruiting season.)

While the recruiting services can't agree on much, it is obvious that there is a downward trend in UT recruiting under Dooley. It's entirely possible he closes strong with several prospects this year and breaks the trend, but to this point, his classes are getting worse each year. Further, I find it interesting that his best class, according to all but Scout, was the one where he didn't have time to build any relationships.

It's also worth noting that Vanderbilt is currently ranked higher that UT by every recruiting service. However, UT is better at the average star ranking, which means that it is likely that UT ends up with a better final class in Feb.

he plays out and wins against miss st and doesn't get blown out the rest of theyear he should get another year. giving a guy a extension for beating mid level SEC teams i'm sorry is just stupid. right now dooley is not recruiting on SEC level, he is going to lose some star players this year and next year we will probably be 6-6 again. by giving him another year though in my opinion is delaying what is going to happen anyway. he is a below average coach that will never get us back close to the top of the SEC. most people outside of tennessee fans agree. if you like finishing 3rd or 4th in the east then dooley is your man. pretty simple.

Realistically, i don't think there is any way DD would get fired this year. Folks just need to suck it up and support our team and its coach.

so if he loses out the rest of the season he gets a pat on the back and a new contract? good idea

Add Phillips to 2012 and we go to top 15. Also, enrolled rankings has us close to top 10 all 3 years, which are the players that actually make it here.
