I've never said Gus was my choice, or Freeze. This administration most likely won't make a change, and if they do, it will be someone that's not on any of our lists. I was just stating the obvious, Gus could lose all 4 of those games a year and people would understand. It explains a lot of his 4-5 loss seasons. Nothing more, nothing less.

I mean Freeze was a high school coach there so that game was pretty big for the area. U do know that memphis won at least 8 games every year from 2014 until this year & went 9-4 the year they beat them right?? We know they aint bama but ole miss has always been their superbowl. Heck they beat Eli with a qb named Danny Wimprine. Being from the area i can tell u that's more of a rivalry game for Memphis then UT is. Ole Miss gets a ton of players from Memphis. Records & conference affiliations don't matter much in that game.

He does get 1/2 of his buy out in the next few months, But th other half is spread out over a few years. He will likely do what Butch did and wait 2-3 years before he seeks a job for another sucker team.

Hiring head coaches with experiential, mental and emotional immaturity tends to bring out the crazy in all of us.

I'm good with Malzahn if he can get us to the point where 7-6 and 6-4 is the worst we can do around here. Once Yella Fella gets tired of you, no matter how well you've done, you are a dead man walking. Hope they enjoy Kevin Steele.

Good with Freeze if he will take more care of himself on social media. He'll be the best offensive tactician we have around here since Al Saunders. If we do hire him, then we need to protect him as much as Saban and Smart are protected assets at their schools. If Tennessee is willing to go there (and I have my doubts), then he will get us back up to elite-level in short order.

Good with Chadwell. He's gotten the job done everywhere he's been settled. Tressell-type hire.

Good with Napier. Improved things with the Cajuns.

All of these guys have something the last four people we've hired lacked: experience in the kind of situation we presently find ourselves in.

Bring the man in who is prepared to do the difficult job. Stop bringing in people whose only real "advantage" is their tie-in with a great head coach who has made their work easy.

TN needs a "splash" hire to get everyone excited including recruits. TN could hire Aguaman. He would control the "tide" and the gators. He would always flush the doors with all that water. Maybe they could rename the SEC the Justice League. Just a thought.

You know like Malzahn’s situation...I remember under my old name DERELICK_MY_VOLS getting blasted for saying Rick Barnes will be rejuvenated and with a chip on his shoulder to prove Texas was wrong....that he had plenty of fuel left in his tank...just saying.

So why are y’all discussing coaching replacements? Pruitt isn’t leaving yet according to the UT website. The investigation is just that - an investigation. We don’t know who or what they are looking at specifically. Cart before the horse.

The Freeze thing is one where you can find all the reasons not to hire him and then glance over at Auburn and think, “Damn, if they hire him he’s going to win big.” I don’t see a great, proven, coach out their that would leave for UT. So, if you’re going to make a change it better move the needle.

I think this should be the case with any hire, much less a Google hire.
An established, successful home run hire, of course a hire base salary. But, I also think that if they don’t produce a minimum amount of wins, there should be salary deductions.....

You sit out a few years and you can become yesterday's news in a hurry. The game changes too quickly and new 'hot' names are coming along all the time. If Gus still has the fire to coach and sees an opportunity that he likes a lot, he should take it.

Sitting out a year isn't a bad thing unless a great offer is there, as it allows for some self evaluation, which can only help when you return.

Gus is gonna do what Butch did. He gonna milk the $21 million buyout for every penny/payment. Why would he want another job right now when he can be an analyst and be stress free while collecting that $21.45 mill buyout?
