Y’all are crazy

Freeze lost to Memphis (yes, Memphis) the same year he beat Alabama. You good with that?
If you’re looking for someone with a flawless record you’re going to be looking for a long time.

I look for the guys who have done the most with the least. That’s why I liked Mullen and Leach during our previous search and it’s why I like Freeze and Campbell in this one.

I’d also be okay with bringing Kiffin back or bringing in Malzahn. I’m intrigued by what Malzahn could do with a fresh start. How would he build his staff or change his philosophy? He’s a genius. He might just come out looking like a legend at his next stop.

I think it's hard to judge anyone who had to compete in the SEC West during the time that Mullen was at Miss. State, Miles had LSU on top, and of course Saban was at Bama.

That being said, now that Mullen is at Florida, and Kirby at Georgia, I'm not sure the East is much easier.
I think he went 3-2 against Mullen. So he at least knows how to beat him head to head.

I think the East will be slightly easier now that Bama, LSU, and A&M look to be the top 3 in the West. Plus with Kiffin, Leach and Pittman there now and whoever Auburn decides to get it won't get any easier.

I would rather take my chances with Mizzou, Kentucky, South Carolina and Vandy every year in the near future.

Freeze did that at Ole Miss with a lot less talent than Gus had.
This.. Ole Miss had not finished in the top 10 since 1969. The 2015 team was the first to accomplish that since.

Also, it sounds as though Saban was possibly going to hire Freeze as his OC prior to the 2018 season...but what does Nick Saban know about football.

Freeze had a top 8 class in 2013 with Tunsil, Treadwell, and the DE whose name I can't spell, a few top 17 classes and a top 5 in 2016. He had players.
Yes! Nkimdiche or whatever his name is was an absolute game changer. He had some nasty dudes at OM, specifically on defense.

Really think Hugh freeze is a solid hire? Better yet, when someone like Gus Malzahn (who’s beaten all of our rivals a handful of times) is waiting at home on a phone call, you’d rather go after a dude like Freeze?

ALL ABOARD THE GUS BUS
Freeze did that at Ole Miss. He’s the better option and it isn’t close.

Freeze isn't coming here. We just have that holier than thou portion of our fanbase that would protest it too much and make too much noise. I'm just being a realist here.

Fulmer is no longer our HC, no?
Your point? Mine was a HOF coach lost to Memphis and Beat Alabama with a QB that you couldn’t beat 85% of these posters off his jock, yet you are going to criticize a guy coaching at OLE FREAKING MISS, with Joe Schmoo at QB. Yeah that’s apples to apples

Just FYI, Gus is 2-7 against Georgia, 0-1 against Florida and 3-5 against Alabama in the past 8 years. So, I mean....he isn't exactly "lighting it up" against our rivals, but he also is still an upgrade from what we have.
3-5 against Saban? That’s really good.. lol.

I want Freeze because he has improved 3 programs from year ONE.

Sure he had problems. Sure he is somewhat of a gamble......but good coaches don’t always need “years” to get it done.

I don’t know of anyone who would be closer to a “sure thing” (as far as improving and winning) that would come to Tennessee.

More with less? Didn't he land huge recruiting classes with Tunsil, etc which had us all wondering how long it would take for sanctions to follow?
Yes. He got some good recruits. But go back and check those classes overall. He had two top 10 classes in 6 years which is very good for Ole Miss but not really "special" when you are in a division with LSU, TAM, and Bama. His best class was in '16... which he didn't really get the chance to coach.

He also had to play GA, AL, LSU and A&M on a yearly basis. Here, he would only have 2 of those 4 on an annual basis
The bottom half of the East is currently worse than the West. That's cyclical.

If you want him... I simply hope you don't get your wish. UT would be in another coaching search fairly soon IMO.

PS- there is no such thing as a "sure bet" when it comes to hiring a coach.

IMHO, UT's roster is as good as it has been since this mess started for a new coach to come in and succeed. There is good talent and good individual development. That's why this decision is so important... whether Pruitt is kept or fired the roster is at a crossroads. If he's kept and continues to fail or the wrong coach is hired then the roster will sink again. If he turns it around or the right coach is hired then we could see significant near term improvement.

If you can’t figure out the difference between Ole Miss and TN, I can’t help you.
I can. I can also tell the difference between a coach with a losing SEC record, a shady record both cheating and with underage hookers and not much else to offer and a more established coach with less baggage that would be a better option

To compare if Pruitt won 5 SEC games next year and 4 in 2022 he would have the same number of wins Freeze had at Ole Miss during the same time period

They shouldn’t listen to me though.......I wanted Petersen last time (still would have been awesome).....then Chip as my second.

That hasn’t worked out.

Pretty sure if the hookers were underage he would be in jail, that is illegal and as far as I know, he was never charged with anything, including solicitation. So, if you want to cast stones, make sure you are being accurate and not just making things up. Now, it’s looking like ole Putrid was cheating as well, and losing to boot. And again you fail to realize that coaching at OLE FREAKING MISS is HARDER. Putrid should have 4 automatic wins in Vandy, KY, USC and Missouri. Now for the last time, the SEC West doesn’t have 4 automatic wins, if you are UT, much less OLE FREAKING MISS. It is a tougher division, and you can’t recruit to Miss. Do I think Freeze is all that, no, I could name a few coaches that are better, but, I don’t know if they would come to UT, Freeze would, and he is exponentially better than Pruitt, and it’s not close. Putrid just lead us to the WORST. SEASON. EVER. So, no, I don’t think you know the difference between Ole Miss and UT.
