i have an old series that has messed up.does anyone know a place where i can have it repaired?i have talked to a rep from microsoft and it's 90$ to have it fixed, plus s&h cost.
would it be cheaper to buy a new slim series?

i am so aggrivated about this.we have had 2 of the old series and both of them have done this.any help would be appreciated.

If you play it a lot and have the money, just buy one of the newer ones. Mine has been great. Doesn't have any of the issues the original one had. Could just buy a used one to save money.

You can repair it for about 8 dollars yourself but will eventually end up having to replace the unit soon.

thanks guys,we'll prob just buy a new slim.if my son didn't have 30 or 40 games,i would never buy another console from micro soft.my son has a old ps2 and a ps3 that is 6 or 7 years old and we have never had any problem from either.

what bothers me is.MS. should stand behind their products.they new the older 360 had a problem but they never had a recall on the product.

Older gen PS3's were not immune to failures.......matter of fact, there were quite a few. Just saying. The 360's past a manuf date of around aug 2010 dont have the issues that the earlier ones did. M$ actually had a warranty on the box for 3 years.....which is about 3 times the time period you will find for just about any other electronic. You will be happy with a slim. Just my .02

Microsoft did extend the warranty on early xbox 360's.

Sony is no better. I had a PS3 that bricked itself after a firmware update, because I bought it used and did not have the original receipt, Sony wanted to charge me $200 to fix an issue they caused.
