20 gb....wireless...and Gears of War are all you'll need to get started...well that and an extra wireless controler would be nice.

GOW will probably be my second game. I want to get in on some Halo action. :)

That's what I figured, but I didn't want to pick one up until I fully understood.

I guess my next question would be, if money wasn't an issue, is it worth it to spend the extra $100 on the 120? What are some of the things you can download?

My $.02.

I would get the 120GB hard drive. First off, you plan on keeping this thing for a while (I assume). There is more and more content that is coming to xbox live: Trailers, movies, arcade games and demos. You don't think you will download them, but you will. Also, more and more games are using hard drive for not only game saves but game play. You can definitely get by with the 20GB but if it's in your budget I would get the 120GB now as opposed to paying $179 for it later.

A lot of people have good luck with the wireless controllers. However, if it's at all possible I would try to find a wired solution. Wireless connections are unstable and the last thing you want is to lag out or drop your connection in the middle of the game. I think your experience playing and hosting games would be better on a wired connection.

Keep in mind, the two suggestions above are to enhance the experience. If neither are possible, I still wouldn't hesitate getting a 360 with whatever setup works for you.

If you have a HD tv, you may want to get the Elite system. It comes with the HDMI cables to display in 1080i.

The latest SKU of the pro comes with the HDMI output on the back as well... no reason to worry about the cable. Cables are cheap. :good!:

Nice! I didn't know M$ was going to be nice and let people get 1080i without buying the elite. Too bad my 360 doesn't have the output.

I've noticed that some games have 1080p. Is HDMI the only way that you can take advantage of that?

Firewire. Some video peripherals will send MPEG-2 streams over firewire... such as some newer DV cams, or most cable boxes.

My guess is that your TV can decode the .ts (transport stream) sent from one of these devices connected to those firewire ports.
