when you guys say HDMI, is that the three extra cords you plug into your TV besides the original white, yellow, and red?

i didn't know if they all came with those extra 3 colored cords or not

silver is the one where you can download content from the marketplace such as demos, videos, arcade games, etc. it's free.

gold is the one that you need to play with people online. it has a fee, although i think that you get a free month of gold when you first get a 360. someone correct me if i'm wrong.

I bought my 360 prob like 3 or 4 years ago and when I signed up for live last month it still gave me a month free

Does anyone have any idea why my 360 gets disc read errors when I play NCAA 07 or 08 and NBA Live 07? It only happens when I play EA games and it really pisses me off. Does anyone have any idea why it does this?

I have this same problem with NCAAF 07 and 08. It's gotten to the point where I basically don't even play it anymore. But it has to be the type of disc they use or something because no other games do it (that I've played)

COD4 does it sometimes, but that is the only one besides any EA game.

does anyone have a suggested general time limit on how long to keep the 360 on? me and my roommate pulled a 5 and a half hour session on mine last night. i've heard different opinions on this and just wanted to get some other thoughts on here. i've got a newer model(made in november 2007). i think it's ok and i'm probably being paranoid about it. but i just don't want this thing crapping out on me after all the horror stories i've heard.

I've kept mine on for more than 12 hrs. straight before....I do have it in front of the TV in an open.. well ventilated space...plus I have an intercooler fan on the back of mine as well.

i've thought about buying an intercooler, but i've heard mixed reviews on them too.

yeah I'm sure..it's a lil noisy when I first cut it on..but then it settles down after a couple minutes..you'll hear mixed reviews on anything..but it's only $20...you could always just buy a cheap lil fan to blow on it as well when you play.

I left mine on for 7 days without a problem. Was playing one night and hit pause. Left for vacation and forgot about it. A week later, I hit 'unpause' and continued playing my game.

Good God man. I had a buddy who left his original xbox on for a day came home and his house was burnt to the ground.

also,

1. does it really matter how much space is put between the power brick and the 360? i have mine sitting next to mine but this is mainly due to the fact that i don't have anywhere else to put it. i've heard this is bad, but i don't have alot of options.

and

2. i've currently got my console plugged into a surge protector to protect it. but i've heard this is bad for it also since the 360 doesn't get the best power supply that way. IMO, it seems like it would be riskier to be plugged directly in the wall. thoughts?

okay so i just started playing xbox live tonight. i am playing halo 3. but for some reason, i don't hear anyone talking on the headset. i hear a sound in it when i push left on the D-pad to talk, but no one talks back. is there something wrong, or is it just that not many people talk on it?

Is it bad to play DVDs? Everyone I know that played DVDs on their PS2, including me, had them die. Is the 360 the same?

My PS2 was the home DVD player for 3 years and never had issue with it. I replaced it with a 360 1 1/2 months ago and no issues yet.

Got the dreaded "Red Circle of Death" on my 360 late last week. I'm waiting on the box from Microsoft so that I can send it back and get it fixed. Anyone else had this happen? I'm thinking of switching to a PS3 when I get my XBox back.

It isn't going to kill your 360 by watching DVDs on it, but it is commonly known that the quality is poor, and a real DVD player would be a much better choice.

Keep in mind, I've only had my XBOX for a little over 3 months now. Here's my question. After you beat a game, can you erase all of that game data and still keep your achievement points, or do they disappear as well?

If I had to guess, I'd say that you get to keep them, but I just want to make sure before wipe some files off the old XBOX.
