It actually did turn out to be great. If TN would have went to a bowl, Fulmer would have definitely coached in it. The bowl game would be the "Fulmer Appreciation" game in place of the KY game. Take Michigan for example last year. Could Rodriguez possibly have gotten better recruits if Coach Carr had not been in charge that extra month and a half?
I think it was more fitting for Fulmer to coach his last game at Neyland Stadium, in front of the fans that wanted to be there. He wouldn't have had that with a bowl game. It might've made fans happier. But it would've been a sucky bowl and we would have griped about that too. I'm glad it all played out the way it did.
And, it was awesome for Fulmer to ride out after a win over UK.

Actually, I was sitting in section U, row 30 in Neyland. Sweet seats I bought off some season ticket holder with the nice seatbacks. Too bad the show sucked.
...in disguise. With Kiffin hitting the recruiting road so hard and getting his staff together, would he have been able to get all of this together in time if Phil had taken us to a bowl game and the Kiffin hire came in late Dec. instead? Or would there even be a Kiffin?
btw, we lost to a team that had only 17 offensive touchdowns ALL YEAR in Wyoming. Worst in CFB.
As much as that sux, could you imagine being Kentucky and still losing to UT? The agony.
They're shutting down athletics at UTC, I heard. I don't suppose UK has considered doing that with the football program, have they?
(sorry Cat, but as much as we stunk this year, this is the only chance I may ever have to talk any smack... I'm done now... thanks for letting me get that out).
