I had a coach who did this. Wore a black hoodie in tennessee heat. As a player for him, it give you little room to *****. Those pads are hot, but the coach is there enduring it too. He provides an example for mental toughness. Even more so because he does it by choice.

It earned points and respect for my coach.

They're not going to stop the games for heat, probably the message he's trying to get through. Still though, that's insane.

I had a coach like that, during summer conditioning he would wear a long sleeve shirt with a nylon pullover over it and a stocking cap. When it was cold he would wear short sleeve shirts and shorts.

That's just nuts! Perhaps he needs to burn off that extra 0.000065% of fat, who knows? One tough dude.

All the old-timers use to wear long sleeves in the heat.

1)It keeps the direct sun off of your skin, which makes you hotter

2)When you sweat, the shirt gets wet, and as the wind blows through it, it keeps you cooler

Maybe he's just trying to cut fat. Kids do it in wrestling all the time to make their weight.

yeah, he's all tough until he passes out from heat exhaustion. Pretty dumb to me

Really? Just because the majority of our population is morbidly obese and would pass out just by having thier fat arses out there doesnt mean that an in-shape Strength and Conditioning Coach can't handle it.

I'm sure he knows his capacity. What I am surprised at is how hard somebody thinks they sound online by calling someone like Bennie Wylie stupid. I'd bet anything that you wouldn't say that to his face. Or to anyone probably for that matter.

Tough guys with keyboards= wusses in real life

I am confident in saying nobody said he was stupid.. However, everyone DID say that it was crazy (because we wouldn't do it) and that he was tough. I am also confident in saying that we would all tell him that he is one tough bada$$.. Im just sayin.

You are the only one trying to be a tough guy with a keyboard.

From experience, it's not too bad. He just needs to stay hydrated. California heat is even worse. I can't wait until he gets furious to be honest

I don't know man.. My experience with California heat is wayyyyy better than TN heat. That is just my opinion though.

edit: minus the wild-fire heat... You feel like you are in a freaking oven.

Wylie stole this idea from all the illegal aliens the work for landscaping companies.

When it's bad here, it's horrible.
