Neither should sit well in the locker room. WWE needs to start pushing the next generation rather than letting the more tenured guys dictate the card. DB doesn't really interest me and bringing him back now seems like it was a mistake. I respect Punk, but he's had the spotlight, and wrestling being cyclical, it would have come back to him soon enough. No need for him to force it. Punk should help put some of the younger guys over, like older guys helped put him over at one point. It's part of the business.

JR (who has no contractual ties to WWE anymore) puts the odds of Punk being at RAW at 55/45. Seems no one can still confirm he's going to be there in a scheduled spot situation.

Punk's contract is up in June. He's probably gonna take a good break, may very well retire. I wish they would let him play heel from here on out. Screw Bryan over at WM in what I hope is a fatal 4-way between Orton, Batista, Bryan & Punk. Payback is the WWE PPV in June and it's in Chicago, have the Main Event be a title match where the loser leaves WWE. Punk can go out in his beloved Second City and Bryan can leave with the title.

Not a bad scenario. I'm going to Raw in Memphis next week so I hope he comes back (permanently) tonight.

My personal guess on this whole Punk fiasco is that he had concussion issues and they decided to give him time off and created this work with the return date of tonight in mind.

I read that he lost control of his bowels during a December Smackdown match vs Dean Ambrose IIRC. Also, although I didn't see the rumble, I was told he hung out in the corner of the match the whole time because he had taken a bump during the match.

That's why I believe this whole thing was a work. Punk was going to be sidelined for a while so they used it to their advantage.

That arena is going to pop like no other tonight when his music hits.

If you're referring to Chicago, yes. Punk was booked as a heel against Cena, but the tide was certainly pushing him towards face status. He certainly got more cheers in Chicago than Cena.

I gotcha. I just remember that since it was after his pipebomb comment, everyone went full-on fap-fest for Punk, myself included

Raw will be great tonight. Apparently some of the Chicago crowd is planning chants.

if it was a work, then it's the greatest piece of planning in my wrestling lifetime.

In Punk lands in the title match with Bryan facing Trips though, I'm sold this was a desperate move to avoid this and Vince got worked. The Chicago crowd might eat up Punk being a title contender and the crowd alone might sell it to the masses.

As it stands right now, the WM card is still VERY weak.
