WWE Thread III

I mean one argument is that he's forced down our throats. That's not even close to the case anymore. I don't think it's a coincidence that most of his matches are good either. Everyone he faces can't possibly be carrying him. In my opinion, he's better on the mic than some superstars that are over like Cesaro and Zayn to name a few. He's not my favorite superstar either, but I think a lot of fans boo him because it's become the cool thing to do.

The only match I can remember him not doing well was the shield triple threat, and I think part of it was because he had some rust from the suspension.

Edit: Could make an argument for this year's WM match, but I think that had more to do with the length and placement of the match on an extremely long ppv.

Punk received 500,000 for the fight.

Gall received 15,000 for the fight and another 15,000 for winning the fight.

As I said on twitter, SEC schools pay hundreds of thousands to inferior opponents all the time. Losers get paid to lose. It's different, but is it really all that different?

Props to Vol Knight for the Rusev prediction. And props to Roman, I think that's the best free match I've ever seen him work.

The idea that Roman Reigns has a bag of tricks in which he could dig makes me chuckle.

Superman punch ✔
Drive by ✔
Punches ✔
Dead-lift sit-out powerbomb ✔
Samoan drop ✔
Spear ❌

Dude sure does put on one hell of a main event

He worked well with KO, sold where he needed to, legitimized KO as a strong champ, told a good story in the ring. And he wasn't booked as Superman, which helped immensely. And I think he will have a good program with Rusev now.

The same way that it used to be cool to hate on Reigns, it's not becoming cool to say that he's actually better than he's being made out to be. He's still not a good wrestler. He's still just Big Show operating at a slightly faster pace.

Reigns kicking out of the 2nd rope fisherman neckbreaker and then kicking out of the frog splash 17 seconds after taking the elevated neckbreaker does the opposite of legitimizing Owens as a strong competitor.

That's a weak argument because everyone kicks out of everything in this age

A KO splash eliminated Cass 2 weeks ago. But Roman Reigns doesn't lose clean if the opponent's name isn't Seth Rollins (or the one loss to Finn)

KO and Roman were both kicking out of each other's moves. That was part of the story. What made it effective was the WAY they were kicking out. Reigns was selling the effects of the moves instead of just shrugging them off like the Samoan Superman character often does.

I'm clearly not claiming Roman is magically a technical wrestler now, but I think you have to acknowledge that Roman has been working much better matches recently.

Roman using the same 5-6 moves and nothing different and having a long break mid-match to rest and losing dirty doesn't show growth to me just because he seemed a little more affected by the other guy's moves.

He had a 21-minute match with KO and he hit punches (including his Superman Punch), kicks (including his Drive By), a Samoan Drop (which every Anoa'i family member does), and the sitout powerbomb (which he struggled to hit).

I probably wouldn't have said something if commentary didn't include the quote that Reigns was pulling everything out of his bag of tricks.

They are booking Reigns better as of late, no doubt. And performing well in the ring. But. I refuse to like him until he does the following

Gets rid of the superman punch

Gets rid of the spear

Stops with the cheesy taunts

Gets new music and attire

Basically, just get a clean slate. I think a lot of people will always just have a bad taste in their mouth from the days he was trying to be forcefully shoved down their throats.

But then again, he's being booked a lot better so. I don't mind him that much right now. But I still haven't come around on the Reigns train. Haha. We will see in a couple months.

Roman reigns needs to change his entire deal or he will never get over. The fans have decided that we don't like Roman and won't. They will have to make a drastic essence change for him to be accepted. It's overdue. They want to build a star? You have to realize that this guy isn't going to work. Give him a big slam finisher. Shut him up. (glad to have found a place to talk WWE here and with vols fans...awesome :D )

I know its early but who is your prediction to win the Rumble? I'm going to predict that Sami Zayn wins it and takes on Owen's for the Universal Title at Mania.

I'm calling and praying for Bray Wyatt. It's past time for him to get his rightful push. He needs to have a revelation- become darker, more sinister. Give him that win and give him the belt at Mania.

Crucifix Powerbomb as his finisher, call it the Roman Crucifixion.
