Thought it was going to be on the line Sunday...hard to believe that a person who could make any stipulation would not make it that a guaranteed title match was on the line

I thought that too but it makes sense for his character though.

- David Shoemaker, author of The Squared Circle: Life, Death and Professional Wrestling, noted on his Twitter that he's heard Daniel Bryan needs Tommy John surgery and will be out at least 3 more months. Shoemaker also is a journalist for Grantland.com and Deadspin.com. He wrote:

Tommy John Surgery is a procedure where the ulnar collateral ligament in the medial elbow is replaced with a tendon from somewhere else in the body. The procedure is common among athletes, especially baseball players. It was named after the first baseball player to undergo the surgery, former MLB pitcher Tommy John.

Guarantee Bryan won't be back till Royal Rumble at the earliest.

The issue will be what to do when he comes back. It seems obvious they want to put the belt on Reigns at Wrestlemania. He needs to win the Royal Rumble for that. Well if Bryan is available for the Royal Rumble, what the hell do you do? You don't want the Batista thing all over again.

I say Bryan makes his debut as the last entrant in the Rumble. How epic would that be? Maybe doesn't win it, but would be a great pop for him.

For various reasons (Cena-like wrestling, lack of mic skills, weakest of the Shield, seemingly handpicked by Vince) I already see a backlash building towards Reigns. It will be interesting to see how much it snowballs by Rumble time. They might have to make him a heel.

Conversely, its almost as if Lesnar is becoming a face (whether intentional or not).

If McMahon is deadset on having Reigns beat Lesnar, they might have to go with heel Reigns vs face Lesnar.

And what praytell do you find wrong with that? Or are you just a Reigns fanboy?

You do realize that if Reigns ends up on this current path as a face, its gonna do him more harm than good right?

I like all of the former shield members (Ambrose a little more than the others). I just disagree with the John Cena comparisons. Let's just agree to disagree. :hi:

The WWE would kill for Roman Reigns to approach what John Cena has accomplished.

Of course they would...kinda But you also have to keep in mind that many of Cena's accomplishments are manufactured. We've also been forced and conditioned to accept that he is the top guy.

But the question is are they going to trap that particular lightning in a bottle again doing that method?

The bigger question is do you want to see another Cena?

Here's the point I'm trying to make. You can have a good character and good wrestler, and still be a top draw. You don't have to have a John Cena or Roman Reigns to do it.

The comparison (in my mind at least) to Cena isn't in an accomplishment thing. It's a Super Cena/Super Reigns type thing. I can't stand seeing a still very raw wrestler just overcome everything and win at life. Also, he's always in the spotlight.

I immediately question how tty hey measured this

My guess is the WWE's stock, attendance, and merch sales during his time as champ compared to any other champ

It'd surprise me if the best the WWE has done, money-wise, was anything but the first few months of Punk as Champ
