WVU v UT Class Comparison

you have to compare how they rate currently after X years being developed. Are they still a 5 star? or 4 star? or 3 star??

examples.

Drew Richmond is no higher than a 3 star player (that may be kind)

Dillon Bates is a 2 star player..

Go through both roster and compare production and rate them.. Only way to get a valid comparison...
I don't think its cool to actually mention names, especially when you don't know these men. Your point can be demonstrated without that...........these guys are busting their butts........for the fans. Show some respect.

You have to factor in the skill regression when a player is under Butch's tutelage. I'd say it about evens out with WV.

I think the talking heads see their big advantage as Grier vs our QB and their WR's vs ours. If we can contain their passing game I expect to win. Will be hard for me to believe that a Pruitt defense can't stop the run. If that happens and we get the pressure on him making him stay in the pocket will certainly feel like were going to win.

WV is a 6 loss team that nearly lost 2-3 more to inferior competition. Their receivers have padded stats due to a non-existent running game. They have played better as a team and have a developed "system". We have superior raw talent that is less developed but battle tested. If the new coaching staff have gotten the team to buy in and gel as a team, we beat the brakes off of them. I have more confidence in the 3 quarterback options across the board than I've had in years with our quarterback stable.

What could you possibly base that on given our past coaching regime? When you have a 1 star coach with a joke of a S&C program, I don't think it's fair at all to call out individual players after what they have stuck through.

As far as I'm concerned, they're all starting with a clean slate. If these guys don't do anything to live up to the billing under this coaching staff then I will agree with you.

LWS is a solid poster and while calling out players is a little frowned upon coaches do it as well. LWS is a little battered as I have seen his attitude and mine sour over the years about Admin and such. Bates has just been so banged up during his career you have to give him credit for his resolve of sticking with it, especially following in his Dad's footsteps.

You could have the best class year after year, won't matter if you can't coach them up. Going from high school to college is a huge leap, just like going from college to pro's. Obviously i've never played college or pro ball so I wouldn't know personally but you can just tell by watching the speed of the games and the size difference of the players. The last head coach of this team was about as bad as you could get at preparing and developing players, and a lot of games were won by per talent from guys like Dobbs and Barnett taking over late in games. So yea we may have better ranked class but I continue to see Butch's players have average college careers only to see them explode in the NFL with real coaches.

They have developed their lesser classes extremely well, and Jones did less with more. I think the keys to turning things around are Pruitt and co. simply developing talent, our S&C program actually turning out bigger, stronger athletes than when they arrive, and the team simply wanting it. We are more talented this year and were last year than at least half our schedule, but our team obviously gave up midseason last year. If those three things come into play this year we could be a nice surprise, maybe we get to 7 or 8 wins with a bowl game. If we see that, recruiting will get even better too.

Put Will Grier on our team we win easily. If our QB(whoever it is) steps up and has a good to great game we win if not Grier controls the game.
If Pruitt can former a scheme that keeps Grier on the run and on his a$$ then our DL and LB'S control this game and we win by at least 10

I do believe that UT's talent is highly underrated nationally...so I agree with your premise that there isn't a significant talent gap in WVU's favor, as some might claim. Still...to say that their receivers padded yards because of a "non-existent running game" isn't really the case. Sure...their run game ranked 84th in the nation, but that was still good for over 150 yards per game. Statistically, they had a better running game than notable programs like: Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, Nebraska, and Vanderbilt. Heck...being 84th puts them in the top 60% of FBS teams. Yes, they are a pass-happy team, but they did run the ball quite a bit last year as well.

Richmond could turn out to be a beast. Coming out , everyone was after him including Bama, Clemson, Ohio state and many others if I recall. He also played right tackle in high school. Every olineman butch recruited seemed to regress after arriving on campus. So just maybe Drew's shows out this season now that he be getting some actual S&C and coaching. I believe our OL could be the biggest surprise this season.

Makes sense, UT has talent, they need developing, I think CJP knows that now, he inherited some good kids, they just need a real coach.

To win the game, the Vols will have to get Grier on the ground and keep pressure on him.
Pruitt knows this better than anyone and will attempt to keep Grier under wraps and pressured.

On the ground and confused about our schemes. When he looks around and knows the blitz is coming but doesn't know where it is coming from, his passing game will deteriorate rapidly.

Our Defense will look like it did in the 86 Sugar Bowl against Miami.

Stunned legions of talking heads and media reporters. Aaron Murray chokes on hobnailed cornbread as he realizes that he was Richt'd off in College!

We have athletes that are every bit as good as WV if not better. We are running new schemes on both O & D, that means we will be feeling out the game in the first quarter. CJP will have to convince our guys to play without fear no matter what happens. I believe he can do that. We may have a bust or two before we get it going but I think we come on in Q2 and win.

We have too many fans running down our QBs. They are not heisman candidates but they are both experienced enough and have the arms to get the job done. If the surrounding cast is solid they will be too.
