WVU Fans Chime In On Vols Football

Relax WVU... Holgerson is probably safe. I think most UT fans could name 2 or 3 other coaches they would rather have than him. Gruden, Petrino are examples. Heck, I'd rather have Tommy Tuberville at least I know he's proven he can win big in the SEC and put a defense out on the field that keeps the opponent under 30 points a game.

:lolabove: Fulmer 2.0...He was let go at Auburn for almost the same reason Fulmer was let go here....No thanks

Lol...I can't believe this surprises some people. Have you not spent any time around West Virginians/WVU fans? Granted I've got some great friends that are WVian...but they're outliers in a state of retards.

There is not a single soul from the state of West Virginia that I have ever met that did not have some kind of peculiar or warped personality trait. I'm not sure about the "retard" comment, but the people from that state are definitely from another dimension.

WVU would be irrelevant if they played in the SEC. They would be 6 or 7 best and would probably finish the season unranked.

Look an Mizzou. Towards the top in the Big 12 and cant win a game in the SEC.

They were around middle of the road, not towards the top of the big 12

As does every state!! I'll agree, there are some strange folks around here, but that goes to stand for every state, TN included!! I grew up in East Tennessee, but moved up here in high school b/c both my parents were from from WV, and my father moved back up here after living in TN for 30 years to start a business, which he has done very well at.
In all honesty, apart from being a bit behind culturally, ie restaraunts, city life, art, etc, there's not a lot of difference bt here and TN, except for TN has more rednecks. WV just has some dirt poor hilljacks, there's a difference bt not having a choice and choosing to live a lifestyle.

Calling BS on the second part of that statement.

-WV is statistically the whitest state east of the Mississippi.
-Statistically the least educated state east of the Mississippi
-Always #1 or #2 most obese state in the nation
-Always Top 3 in teenage pregnancies nationally
-Pocahontas and Nicholas County, West Virginia have the highest rates of meth usage in the nation (#1 and #2)
-WV has been the most depressed state in the nation for 5 years running
-Southwest WV and Northeast KY have 50% of the poorest counties in the nation.

The people are backwards, and do nothing to help themselves. That said, there are good and bad people everywhere. WV just has a much higher % of the latter (I've lived in both states as well). I'm also not judging anyone by their income - that has nothing to do with what kind of person you are.

This obviously doesn't apply to all West Virginians, and particularly those from out of state that had to settle there.

I agree with this 100%. I've spent time is Knoxville and wv. Both have their fair share of backwoods weirdos and hillbillies.

I wouldn't leave for Tennessee right now if I coached at West Virginia. You have everyone already set-up for your system right now, a conference in which the air raid is much more accepted than this one, and you have a better shot to keep competing for conference championships. The only thing we could really do right now is pay him more.

Ain't Tuberville in some kind of trouble with a ponzey scheme

To be fair most young fans outside of Tennessee probably don't know we won the NC in 98, and if they do know they probably think Manning was the qb. I don't who the starting qb was on the 97 NC team.

Griese for Michigan and Frost on Nebraska. Didn't even need to look it up, but I am a college football geek...GBO!

No offense, but did you have all this jotted down in your pocket just incase a WV person ever tried to talk some smack?

"They haven't been good since Manning left." - If you actually believe this, then you know nothing about college football, really.

that was my favorite line as well - know your place - you got into a real conference 15 minutes ago and if TX does something crazy like join the pac12, SEC, or go independent it will fracture and be a bout the same as conference USA

the idea that they can pay more is crazy and the idea that they aren't a stepping stone school is truly laughable

Dana Holgerson has Geno Smith in a league that doesn't play defense. He hasn't done anything to prove that he's a good coach, simply shown that he has a really good player.

Why not go ahead and hire Chizik if we want to go this route?

VOLS haven't been good since forehead left? I think they are forgetting Martin won the NCC the following year.
