Now I understand that we went 4-8...but nothing about this team scares me after looking at last years results. They’re 2-4 out of the last 6 games they’ve played. And the 2 wins were by a combined 9 points....
That doesn't look too scary to me either.

WV will win by three possessions i'd say. How is UT going to score points with no Qb?

By using the running game. If our QB can make a simple hand off, which I’m sure any of them can, we can make this a very interesting game. This OL will be ready and with extra blocking from TE’s and a FB, we can wear them down.

WVU's defense is bad enough that I think we make a game out of it for 3 quarters. But WVU's offense returns a lot of experience and production and we're gonna be in game one of a scheme/mentality change on defense. Also, I don't really have faith in either of our QBs to put us in a great position if the defense has some struggles and the game comes down to a shoot out.

I think we score 28-35 and WVU gets us by 10-14 points.

TBF though, Grier got injured in the first quarter of that Texas game and then missed their last two of the season. They still likely lose to OU, but the Texas and Utah games probably look a lot different if Grier is on the field.

Hopefully we can get to Grier so much he gets banged up and leaves the game. If we can, then yeah I think we win no problem.

I don't know what Pruitt can do with the talent on this team. There is some. The cupboard isn't as bare as so many seem to think.

That said.... UT is facing a team that was 2-6 against FBS teams with a winning record. The combined record of the teams they beat was 27-48.... including 3 wins over teams that combined for 5 wins. As bad as UT's first 8 loss season was, no one they played won less than 4 games. One of WVU's wins was over a 1-11 Baylor team that lost to FBS liberty and also UT San Antonio.

Many have made a big deal out of Grier but not surprisingly his performance fell off sharply against ranked teams with decent D's. His worst performance was 47.6% with 4 INT's vs Oklahoma State.

My point is this isn't a mountain too tall to climb.

Oh, Grier needs his receivers to play well. They are big on the OL and return 4. That's a good test for Pruitt's rebuilt, re-schemed front 7.

They lose 4 of their top 8 tacklers including the top 2. With a team like WVU, they are so inconsistent in recruiting that you never quite know if they have high level talent across the board or depth.

Two years ago. We had the best rushing season in school history.

That was a player led offense. They produced in spite of CBJ.

We have some big OL with some experience. I would not be surprised if we run for 300 yards against WVU.

What I am anxious to see... Is how our linebackers adapt to various formations and taking on OL.
Kongbo and Bituli need to dominate

I think Wood-Anderson has a breakout game. I also think Callaway has a touchdown catch, back of the endzone. Tillman and Johnson show they are sure handed receivers and Jennings shows why we missed him last year.

RBs will be interesting, if Chandler starts I believe he gets 120yds, with an overall total of yards by our RBs of approximately 250yds.

Overall I think this is a higher scoring game for us then people think, we have to many offensive weapons for it not to be.

Defense I believe will struggle early in the secondary. However, after halftime adjustments becomes a completely lockdown unit.

I believe our D-Line surprises WVs O-Line and wears them down, opening up big defensive plays in the 2nd half.

I think UT wins by at least two touchdowns.

For all of you that think we lose by more than 14, this team isn't coached by CBJ and has much more talent than you think THAT WILL BE DEVELOPED and COACHED UP during games!!! You all will see what a piss poor job CBJ did quickly!!! WVU beat two teams that had 8 wins last year, Kansas St and Iowa St. Kansas St lost to Vandy! In my opinion, Iowa State is the only quality team WVU beat last year and lost to KSU. WVU's wins came against teams that won 3, 1, 2, 6, 1, 8, and 8 games for a combined record of 29-58. So, the teams they beat lost twice as many as they won as an average. I think lots of us have lost the orange colored glasses with what we have suffered through the last 10 years and are realistic when thinking we can beat an average at best Big 12 team. Yes, they have a Heisman candidate in Grier and two quality WRs. But, they allowed 31 pts a game against a very weak schedule for the most part. I feel confident we can score at least 31 with improved OL play and Helton running the offense while holding them to 24 or less. VOLS WIN BY AT LEAST 7!!! =)

Also,

VOLS win vs WVU, ETSU, UTEP, CHARLOTTE, UK, and VU, lose to UGA and UA, with toss ups vs UF, AU, SC, and MIZZ to win 7 GAMES MINIMUM, BOOK IT!!! =)

I truly believe we have enough talent on both sides to win, last years record was the result of so many injuries and the worst defensive coordinator of the BJ era. No head coach can do it all, Jones recruited talent (that's still on campus) but hired some real head scratchers' for assistants. I think coach Pruitt has what appears quality assistants and this team will reflect that. One thing I am positive of, nobody wearing orange will be intimidated by hiesman hype.

We have plenty of talent on offense. Last year we were beset by two major problems: injuries on the OL and predictability.

We can hang with them on offense because our defense will be better than theirs. Improved S&C pays off in game 1 verses non-SEC opponent!

I think we will lose this game. I don't think it will be a blow out though. However; if we do beat WVU, I would not be totally surprised. We don't know what our team will look like and we don't know what WVU will look like either.

I was a little scared for this game...until I saw this. Those results really don’t impress me very much, especially the last 6 games they played.

I would have clicked like on this post except for the part about you think we will lose and that we don't know what WVU will look like, because there is ample film and info available to give us an idea of what they will look like unless they make a sudden and radical departure from their schemes and philosophy last season which would be a disadvantage to them. I do like the part where you say if we do beat WVU, you wouldn't be surprised. :)

Our staff has tons of film on last years WVU team to learn tendancies and situational adjustments etc. Their staff doesn't know what we're gonna hit them with offensively. We'll be prepared and we will win.
