WTH is wrong with the people making decisions at UT?

Our admins went through all the trouble of firing Pruitt and hiring an elite AD, but it smells like the same clowns are still making decisions behind the scenes. Our top guy right now is another coordinator like Pruitt and the other big names are the coaches at SMU and Buffalo. Before I read their names connected to this coaching search I didn't even know who they were. Google coach anyone? WTH? This is objectively a top 10 or top 15 program and we have the money, facilities, tradition, and talent to get a big name coach. Again, WTH? Our administration isn't even trying to win. Eff em. I'm done with UT football if they go cheap and get an unproven coordinator or a Google coach.
Dan is in charge and making this decision. You are in the midst of a myriad of smokescreens. You should step back for a moment and wait until the actual decision making is complete and the message is cleared for distribution. Until then, you are just wasting your time. Dan plays chess.

No the problem is, with the state of our program right now, people still expecting elite coaches to drop what their doing and fixing the dumpster fire we are in right now, it’s going to take us trusting our AD and him making a hire that isn’t as fancy on paper and it actually working out for once like it has many many many times for other programs

You have to factor in the fact that we may be looking down the barrel of significant NCAA sanctions. That makes this particular climate different and more difficult than the last 4 hires. I'm not super enthused either if it ends up being Elliot, Fleck or Dykes but considering the NCAA thing we may be fortunate to get them. Rolling with Steele as an interim next year would be devastating recruiting wise. That needs to be avoided at all cost. Campbell would be a home run.

Go back and read my original post. I don't believe he is the one making the calls. When we hired him, I briefly felt good, but then when I saw all the names connected to this job it looked like Tennessee is still doing Tennessee things.

That is the reporter's trying to get clicks.

Follow the player's lead.

I would feel a lot better if all the names he is supposedly going after weren't completely underwhelming.
So what list has been released by the UT AD? The only lists out there are either on this site that are pure unadulterated speculation or lists by reporters that are pure unadulterated speculation.

Fact is none of them have any idea what AD Danny White is doing cause no one in that small circle is talking.

Don’t get worked up over fake news.
We are aiming high. Any reports of coach searches that do not come from Chris Lowe or Bruce Feldman is likely manufactured information.

That’s fine.
There are attainable coaches out there that would have tremendous success here. They just may not win the headline or press conference.

ADs at Iowa St, MSU, Indiana, Utah, Minnesota etc have turned this type of hire into success. White is as good as those ADs. Granted, luck always helps

What? Chris Lowe doesn’t report false information so I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. You’re the first person I’ve heard question Chris.

Elliot, Dykes, and Fleck. Not buying the Kool aid.
But if this is the Flavors were getting , I'm taking the ⛵ guy.

Just relax and trust the process. We’re not throwing 7 million—which is the number a lot of people have been providing—around just to hire a coordinator or Sonny Dykes.

Exactly, that’s what I’m referring too. It’s possible. Everyone just expects these guys thats had success already to walk through the door and it just doesn’t work like that ( most of the time )

I have read all of these posts through a haze of liquor, but I think that I might be agreement with all of them. It’s very fortunate that I have catlike observation skills, and I therefore conclude that everything at this point is speculation. For those Kiffin supporters, that means we don’t know squat yet, and nobody else does either. All of this provides for good Twitter fodder, and I think that was the plan all along. And I’m rarely wrong, just so you know. But in all seriousness, I think that after watching the AD press conference, this guy is no joke. He will conduct this search on the down low, and not many people will have anything to leak. Anything that we are seeing is just a bunch of folks who rely on this stuff to put food on the table, and they are just doing what they have to do. I am discounting our usual bunch of insiders, who just need this in the same way that Pee Wee Herman needs certain kinds of theaters. Covid must suck for him. But anyway, don’t get too worked up over any of it. This will all sort itself out soon enough.

I've yet to see White or anyone at UT connect a name to the job. Might want to save some of that over reaction until they actually make a hire.
