Hearing Ryan Jenkins is done for the season.

Not sure the exact circumstances.

Been injured for a good while. Perhaps he's not healing very fast and a redshirt is the best option.

Fuuuuuuuuuu..... Too bad for the kid. Heard he was doing well before that. Don't know if he's played yet or not but hopefully he's a candidate for medical redshirt if so.

hate it for the kid, looking at glass half full he'll get a full four years, and a better chance at full recovery time away from injury to recup and show what he can do. also extending tbe chances he'll have a qb worth half a **** to throw to him.

Yeah this sucks, but my expectations weren't that high on a quick return since he seems to have been injured for a while. Luckily for us it looks like Pig and Johnson are healthy enough to play this week and it looks like Young is way ahead of schedule.

Jenkins will be a big contributor next year though, can't wait to see him play.

So Young and Jenkins are out for an extended period of time and Pig and Johnson have both been hurt recently. God forbid something happen to Smith or North...

Wonder how many are still riding the "Butch is recruiting too many WRs" train now.

That's an understatement Nash.

Me. Don't we have like 5 commits looking for a sixth? We're thinner on the d-line. No Couch, Saulsberry out, I think that's more troublesome than the WR position. We have DBs that could play receiver if needed, how do you replace a DT? You think a second string OL could play in the DT rotation? I certainly don't.

Check the commitment list. Not counting Kameel Jackson whose situation is currently unclear, we've got just as many D-line commits as we do true WRs (two). Even assuming we land Josh Malone, that's still only three true wideouts. It's very clear that the staff have been pursuing DL lately and we did land some quality guys in the last class (Carr, Vereen, etc.). They'll stock up here soon, Lambert was just the beginning. But contrary to what everyone seems to believe, we do have some talent at DL, just not a lot of experience.

I didn't count Vic and Creamer towards the WR total as it's not a complete guarantee they end up there.

Word.. We moved Dallas to db temporarily.. We sure as hell ain't moving any DT's to other positions. We are terribly thin there right now. One injury and we are facing a terrible scenario. They are already going to be worn out in the 4th qtr.

Let me clear up what I was saying. When I say DL, I really mean DT. How many DT commits do we have right now? Lambert has supposedly been told he'll get to play DE, so since you're not counting Vic and Creamer at WR, then we can't really count Lambert as a DT. So that leaves us with how many DT commits? Zero. To succeed in the SEC, you have to be able to rotate your DTs to keep them fresh, and not have a major drop-off of talent when you rotate in the fresh bodies. The SEC is a defense first conference. Dynamic offenses may find some success here, but generally, the best defense wins the SEC championship.

If you truly believe WR is a more pressing need than DT, you're nuts.

I don't necessarily believe WR is more pressing, and I think your "you don't count these guys, so I won't count this guy" methodology is a little arbitrary. It's not as if Lambert could end up at receiver, or something, where as Vic and Creamer could easily end up on D.

I hadn't heard about Lambert being told he'd play DE. That seems a little surprising given his size and that we do have some upcoming talent at that position. But, that's the coaches' call. He's got the frame to play DT, imo.

I understand the SEC is a defensive league. I get it, I really do. But with the recent injuries to at least 3 or 4 of our only proven playmakers at WR, I definitely don't think it's unreasonable to have 3 true wideouts in a class that will end up with at least that many or more DTs, one or two of which will be immediate impact JUCOs. I think it's pretty safe to assume these last spots will be reserved for those players. We'll be alright. Butch has done pretty well on the recruiting trail so far.

Injuries often are directly related to tehnique, conditioning, flexibility, hydration and diet. Does Oregon have injuries? Not like this. And yet look at the pace. They emphasize all the above.
