We are the largest collection of whiners and impatient "know-it-alls" in sports. Don't tell me "all" fanbases are that way. That's an "excuse" for our behavior. I thought some of you were all about "no excuses." We lost to the better team. Yes, it probably should have been closer. I'm sure mistakes were made from coaches and players. Obviously defense needs some changes. What are those changes? Who knows? It's not always coaches. That's easy and lazy as an "excuse." I'm NOT defending the coaching and not defending the players. I'm a "fan" that wishes my beloved team did better in a few games this season. Do I think the season is a failure.? NOT BY ANY STRETCH! Do I want another championship? ABSOLUTELY! Look how "FAAR 'EM ALL" has worked out for us for the last 2 decades. Were the firings warranted? ABSOLUTELY! But it's not all sunshine and rainbows when we do make the change. Get over yourselves and enjoy the game. Oh wait, I know, I know. "But he makes millions of dollars." Sure does. It's the market. Get over yourselves and enjoy watching glorified recess!
Well leave

What are the options?
One option is being afraid of change.

I am not calling for heupel to be fired, but I don't care if he leaves because it looks to be too much to ask for him to build a team on the level of Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, etc.

Next season needs to be drastically better, but I don't have any confidence that it will.

'Close enough' only counts in hand grenades.

7+11+10+10+8 =/= 10.
10 wins last year was more an indication of how bad our schedule was and how many horrible offense's we played.Ala's was really average, KY,Miss St,Arky,Fla, all 4 non conference offense's were really bad. The 2 best we played, GA and Ohio St put up 73 on us. Go look it up, you'll get a more clear picture. Just like our 8 wins this year. Our opponents record that we beat is 31-65 or something close to that. We lost 3 home games, which is inexcusable. We're 8-5 our last 13 games. Also, in 23 we won 9 games, not 10. . How about this, our last 3 years, we're 14-10 in SEC games 24-16 overall in SEC games under Heupel. .Three years we were 4-4, two years 6-2. 21-3 in Non conference games. With our weak non conference schedule, we automatically get 4 wins a year. Heupel is basic having a good SEC year, then a not so good one. There's no consistency, except at being inconsistent.

Guy, LSU fired a national championship coach, paid him 40 million to leave.
Fired his replacement, paid him 54 million
Hires another guy for 90/100 million.
But Tennessee fans are rabid crazy whiners

What do you mean "one option is being afraid of change"? You mean fans are afraid of change? I don't think anyone is afraid of change. That actually sounds like an excuse. Hes a slob. Hes scared if officials. He needs to shave. Hes paid too much. He sucks......BUT I don't want to fire him.

Lol.

*Sigh*

Another thread that consists of telling others what kind of fan they should be. Questioning another’s fan hood is always a loser of a stance.

No, we want a coach who will fight for the team, get on players and coaches when needed, hire a real DC and OL and LB coach. Have something real to say at press conference instead of stupid coach speak. You let him win 7-8 games next year and he will see some real heat. He's had a easier schedule the last 2 years, not from now on
Dang! Y’all sound just like us Gators fans! lol

Everyone that's worried about what would UT do if he leaves, whether for another gig or being fired, sound afraid of change.

When UGA fired Mark Richt, they were winning a lot of games, just not championships. Kirby Smart wasn't even a HC, was he?

I know he is a special case, but that's the fearless pursuit of greatness required to be the champion. Not someone afraid of losing a coach who could be compared to coach Richt.

In all fairness, I thought UGA was wrong for firing Richt at the time.

ETA: I'm not calling for Heupel firing, but IMO the writing is on the wall. Get it going on Rocky Top, or find somewhere else to be middle of the pack.

We aren’t that much better. Some fans want to run off a coach who brought us back from the dead and has averaged 10 wins a year because we got smoked by a playoff team.
Says the D A who wants to run off a defensive back coach bc not every corner and safety is an all American and 1st round pick

Exactly....Go read other boards after loses and even close wins. I can assure you Tennessee doesn't own the trademark on anything you see or read on this site. Good grief...some posters are as soft as our football team is. Grow a set or go start a marching band forum.
I will not abide marching band slander

Most of us work 9-5s and don't actually stick out necks out....me included. It takes vision and honestly a little bit of craziness, to strike gold.

Well that's one thing we aren't is a playoff team.

Speaking of playoffs...remember the ridiculous "chance of making the playoffs" thread from a week to two weeks ago. Some of us said cut that ridiculous talk out while others still drunk the kool-aid. Where are those threads?

By the way, Vandy is not getting into the playoffs. Stop raising their profile to make yourself feel better. However clearly they are much better than the Vols.

I strongly encourage the IGNORE button for the ridiculous, feelings hurt, taking it personal bunch. AND…it’s probably a good idea NOT to read Volnation for several days after a loss. Some of those folks use it as a screaming, venting avenue for pent up anger….ALAS…I suspect this nonsense will continue for as long as we are VOL fans. Just part of the landscape🤷‍♂️.

All fanbases are that way. Always have been. Always will
agreed, that along with social media and the easy ability to Troll. I do have trouble believing some of these so called fans are true Tennessee orange and white fans, I believe them to be trolls and just like to stir the pot.

Agreed. A bunch of idiots going to keep whining until we go back down the 15 years of 💩 again firing coaches.
