You listen to them and they talk about how hard it was and dread… just like how Pruitt coached here. Our guys love to go to practice. Our guys put it on the line for this staff. They work their asses off, but it isn’t transactional which was what they described Pruitt as.

While they obviously have a lot of pride in their school, our team seems to love playing for Heupel. You don’t see Heupel embarrassing them after a play on national TV. Everything is handled behind closed doors.

Heupel is different and our team would run through a brick wall for him.

Would not be surprised. THEN...it's James Franklin to Tuscaloosa (hey, I can dream some crazy ones).:eek:
I keep thinking there will be an out of left field hire like.....................................................Dabo Swinney shockingly decides to leave Clemson for Alabama. Dabo only lasts 4 seasons at Alabama for only winning 9-10 games a season.

What we saw on Saturday were 2 different coaching philosophies. 1 guy is chill and loose and is fun to play for.

The other guy is a di(k head that makes things miserable.

It was on full display for the world to see last week.
Being a D(KC only works when u r winning.

Let them lose 1-2 more games and watch the implosion.

At some point these young guys do not relate to a 70 year old angry dwarf. Especially when he drops 2-3 games a year. I will say this, if he doesn’t find a decent replacement for BY he is in big trouble next year.

Mildew will be the guy in 2023 for whoever is head coach of Alabama he was highly recruited.

It might be because his staff has changed frequently as is coordinators have gotten hired by other programs; the turnover, ironically, keeps the program somewhat fresh, whereas Fulmer kept his core staff for many years and it and the program just got stale and fell into a funk after about a decade of success.

An alternate take is that Saban's educating his own competition, which we see with Smart, Kiffin, Fisher, Napier, McElwain, Muschamp, Pruitt, etc. Coaching talent has to be acquired and developed just like players, and good ones can hurt a program when they leave.

Pressure building. Bama was lucky to beat Texas and it took a no call on a holding penalty to do it. Barely got out with a win against a pretty underwhelming aTm team. Then it finally happened against Tennessee. A loss has been building for weeks for Bama. Saban’s body language is almost saying he’s had enough. The time is near.

I
I could see Nick deciding to retire after Alabama beats Auburn if Alabama isn't going to the SECCG or going to the Playoffs. He could get his team really charged up announcing Alabama's New Year's Six Bowl Game will be his last game at Alabama.
I could see him pulling a spurrier.

or possibly the 5* Simpson kid, a Freshmen this year, who won a HS championship at Martin Westview.
Fun fact, his daddy is the HC at UTM. So the kid takes a loss to the Vols and the very next weekend his daddy takes one as well.

I think their defense is porous this season and they will stumble into a loss to Ole Miss that will knock them out of the SECCG and into a New Year's Six Bowl Game.
Their defense isn't what it normally is, but it's not porous. Even after Saturday's game they are #16 in yards allowed nationally and that's good enough for 3rd in the SEC. Before Saturday, they had only allowed 75 points through 6 games. That's not bad at all. Their problems are with penalties and unusually bad special teams play. They will beat LSU and Ole Miss.

I would say that depends on the locker room culture and if Saban can keep them focused. We will see. I'm sure this weekend will be joyless murderball though.

I'm telling you one or two more losses and the wheels will fall off that program. I don't think I've ever seen our former players talk about current players like this.

https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxtEdi_mQUVTjIk58xY86G16Cx0p5VfTry

This is silly. Alabama's wheels aren't anywhere close to falling off. The sentiment around here has quickly gone from absurdly pessimistic to absurdly delusional.

And as for former players speaking their minds, I don't mind it. They've earned that right and have a better grasp on the culture than we do. Besides.... I remember Crompton and Ainge hammering JG on more than one occasion.
