When you have programs the caliber of Miami and FSU instate, why would you bother scheduling OOC out of state?

They rarely play Miami...UF is terrified to schedule them regularly...Even Spurrier and Urban both said that they wouldn´t want to play them every year.

Wasn't this year supposed to start up a more regular matchup?

Regardless, it is hard to find fault with a team that is playing for their second national championship in three years.

2010 looks brutal.

Now I just want to point out, this would be the season where a sizeable chunk of people on the board have said kiffin would have turned it around like saban or meyer...

There's no good reason to pick up the 2010 kickoff classic with this schedule.

I have always wondered why ut always has a front loaded schedule. I would prefer to play florida the first week of november rather than september.

Florida has liked it better that way....they were usually a game or two more experienced at that point and the game would show with UT mistakes

The one time we played them at the end of the year, it was a great game but we won....so they really never wanted to do that again afterwards

What if we play someone like NC st? that might be a welcomed easier starting game

NC State has a lot more to look forward to in 2010 than the Vols do.

That's no easy game. Pick up a cupcake and then take the lumps the next 6 games.

What better way to see what your team can do. I like the schedule. You make through the heavy top half and win 5 of 6 or 6 of 6 and your in the top 10. And if were not, the whole thing is fixed and I want my money back!

:eek:lol:

TV exposure gives you a recruiting boost. If they schedule Our Sister's of the Poor, Or Joan's Barber College, no one will watch. Hopefully Kiffin will be established by then, and even more importantly, the elder Kiff will have a monster D established by then...

I think we'll get plenty of TV exposure throughout the rest of the year, regardless.

In 1992 when the rivalry was moved to a yearly date, it was also moved from mid-October to mid-September. At the time Florida had good reason to not want the game in October or early November as they play Georgia the final week in October, and Florida St. a few weeks later. When FSU was a powerhouse, it is understandable why they wouldn't want a powerhouse UT added in with that mix. The lone exception to this date was '01 when the game was cancelled because of Sept. 11, and moved to the first week in December.

Wasn't that Travis Stephens' monster game in 2001 that was rescheduled due to 9/11? I believe that was Spurrier's last game in the swamp too. That game was amazing.

Five games in a row before we get a Saturday off, I like that, we always seem to have Saturdays off early, I think so anyway.

YES! That was classic.

I did not feel good about that game going in, Travis carried the mail.

Seems like when Spurrier was @ FL, we would lose to them early, and by the end of the year we were playing better football than they were? Maybe just perception.

It really worked out in our favor, UT got progressively better as the year went on. Florida was also really good that year, and I'm not sure we would have beat them if the game had been played in September.

We don't want to expose what we have been.
No exposure, is better than bad exposure.

Now you're being a negavol Beecher. Bring the best and beat the best. Thats how you get ranked. And get the primo bowl games.
